Captain Paul Smith is the owner and operator of Hunter Charters, offering sport fishing, bottom and light tackle fishing, as well as snorkeling excursions in Nassau, Bahamas for over 10 years now. Joined on his mission to provide visiting anglers with a remarkable charter service by his son, Paul Smith Jr (also one of the Captains), the Hunter Charters team is committed to using their experience and knowledge of the local waters to make sure their guests’ fishing trip ends up a successful one.
Captain Paul Smith has fished the Nassau area for more than 30 years, having spent the last 10 growing his fishing charter fleet, that is now comprised of 4 vessels. His boat, the Mornin’ Ride, is a 38’ Hatteras fit for all types of fishing, with a maximum passenger capacity of 7 anglers per trip. The boat is fully air-conditioned and features a toilet and shower on board, rigged with the standard selection of charter electronics and navigational equipment, including GPS, radio, fish finder, as well as a multimedia system. There’s also a single fighting chair among the boat’s amenities, to help anglers maximize their chances of reeling in any larger fish that may strike their bait.
Captain Pablo and his crew welcome you aboard the Mornin’ Ride. They will provide you with all of the fishing equipment your group requires, along with the artificial bait for the trip, as you troll the deep waters and run the reefs in pursuit of common species including the likes of Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna, Barracuda, Snapper, Grouper as well as a variety of others, depending on the season. Had an excellent time on our Half Day trip on Morning Ride with Captain PJ and D’Angelo. Spent the 1st 2-21/2 hours deep sea fishing with no hits but not due to a lack of effort from the crew. Just like some days lake fishing, the fish just don’t cooperate. After seeing that this wasn’t the morning for them to bite they took us to a reed and caught several smaller fish. The communication leading up to our fishing trip was excellent, they were right on time, and conversation throughout the fishing was good. Overall was a great 1st time deep sea fishing in the Bahamas and can’t wait to do it again.

The whole trip was misrepresented.
1. No air conditioned cabin.
2. They said fish were biting until we got out, then said nobody was catching anything.
3. Made my deposit with a charge card. When we got out, they wanted cash for the balance.
4. No attempt to miss or work with chop in water.
5. No fish, No fish, No fish.
Absolutely will not do that again. Even told another couple NOT to do it. A LOT of money for water and sodas.

We went trolling for two hours and did not have much luck. Then we went bottom fishing in 18ft water with no luck. The captain had no fish finder only binoculars looking for birds hovering the water. We ended up with two small barracuda and an amber jack that the captain said we could not eat because they have mercury. I understand when the fish don’t bite but when you pay $800 for a boat without a fish finder and catch an edible fish that you’re told is not. It could have been better.
