Ready to catch some fish in Berkeley? Amethyst Fishing Charters is here to make it happen! Captain Johnathan will be your guide.
Around here the fishing is popular for Halibut, Striped Bass, dungeons crab trips, and rock cod Lingcod
On these trips, it's common to drift or troll. When crabbing we tend to do combo trips meaning we go crabbing and rockcod fish in the same day. Check our schedule for availability.
Trips with Amethyst Fishing Charters are great for kids, so go ahead and bring the whole family along! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. Snacks are also a good idea so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty belly!
Capt. Johnathan operates a 57' Sportfishing with space for 25 passengers. It has all the essentials. There's a toilet on board for your convenience.
Seeker Rods and okuma reels are supplied for you for a small fee, but feel free to bring your own setups if you like.
A First Mate will be there to make sure everything is running smoothly. It's customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.
Before coming aboard, it may be necessary to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
Don't leave home without sunglasses, a hat, sunblock, and bottled water. If you'd like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Me and two teenagers booked for a halibut charter. We chose a larger boat which seemed like a better choice for us. That was the Amethyst. Captain Jonathan and his deck hands were awesome. Super friendly, non judgmental of us novices, and very helpful in sharing and teaching us what they were doing. They were very focused on our success and helping us catch fish. It was a great boat, a great experience, and one we’ll do again on the Amethyst.
The fish weren't biting much that day, but the captain and the crew were very vigilant to make sure everyone caught something. It was beyond their control that a lot of the halibut were not of legal size, but they kept plugging away until people caught some that were. Providing advice, fixing the lines, baiting the hooks and fileting the fish, they were great at everything. Also they were/are very friendly and definitely customer focused. I would gladly take another fishing expedition with them.
Captain Jonathan and his two deck hands were absolutely amazing. I took my boy on this charter for his 13th birthday and they couldn’t have been more accommodating to us. We caught two keepers and so did others on board. Best trip ever, we are still thrilled. Simply bring your own food and drinks and enjoy your trip. They provide everything else. Highly recommend this charter.

According to my daughter, "It was the best day ever!" And it sure was a good way to celebrate my 40th birthday by actually doing some real fishing rather than dinky fishing in a pond somewhere. Jonathan and Zack are awesome guys as well and were very helpful. We limited out on stripers, as well.
