Spend the day with Breakaway Fishing Charters and get hooked on fishing in Lihue! With Captain Jeff at the helm, you'll have a knowledgeable and experienced guide.

These waters are known for Amberjack, Pacific Barracuda, Jack Crevalle, Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Blacktip Shark, Skipjack Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), and more – with any luck, you'll find out for yourself! On these trips, it's common to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.

Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids are absolutely welcome! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. And, you can't go wrong with snacks so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty stomach!

Your vessel for the day is a 34' Radon sportfishing vessel that can carry up to 6 passengers. It comes with outriggers, a fighting chair, and all the essentials. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will provide rods and reels, as well as lures. Live bait is on offer, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.

You'll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. Mates often work for tips and it's customary to offer them a 10–20% tip.

You will need to get a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.

Don't forget to bring sunblock (non-spray), and sunglasses. Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Your trip with Breakaway Fishing Charters is just a click away, so why not make it happen?

Great day at sea
4 Hour Trip – Shared - 12:00 PM on May 29, 20262 adults
The fish were not our friend for much of the day but we finally came upon a cluster of yellowfin and they were nice enough to extend our time to make a second pass. We brought in pleanty for dinner and lost a few just because we had to many lines running at the same time when they hit. Its ocean fishing so be prepared for waves but boat held well.

Incredible!
6 Hour Trip – Shared - 10:30 AM on March 16, 20261 adult
I almost didn’t book this trip. As a solo, 59 yo woman who has fished but never like this, I was nervous about what I was getting myself into. I’m so glad I booked! We caught a few fish and had the best time ever! Capt & crew worked really hard to get us fish. They were kind, informative and happy to answer questions. I wished I was staying longer so I could book again. I wouldn’t hesitate to fish with these guys, they’re fantastic! Thanks for a memory of a lifetime!

Epic adventure
4 Hour Trip – Shared - 6:00 AM on June 2, 20264 adults
What a great time. Captain Jeff and his firstmate, Joe, were awesome! They gave 110% the entire time working to get us on as many fish as possible. Great lowkey vibes and appreciate all of their help for our first deep sea fishing experience. Will hopefully see them on another adventure.

A Wild, Wavy, and Wonderful Day with Captain Jeff and Expert First Mate Joe!
4 Hour Trip – Shared on August 16, 20251 adult1 child
What an awesome day on the high seas with Captain Jeff and Expert First Mate Joe! The ocean was throwing a full-on tantrum—waves crashing, boat rocking, and let’s just say it was a rough ride. Every passenger but one (shoutout to that iron-stomached legend!) was green around the gills, clutching buckets like they were life rafts. 😆 But here’s where the magic happened: Captain Jeff and Joe turned a seasick saga into an absolute blast! These two are the real deal—super skilled, funny, and bursting with aloha spirit. Despite the barf-fest, they tended to every queasy adult and kiddo with such compassion, you’d think they were part nurse, part fishing wizard. They joked to lift our spirits, handed out buckets and water bottles (because, duh 🤢), and kept the vibes sky-high even as the waves tried to steal the show. And the fishing? Holy cow lau lau! We reeled in two huge aku and a jaw-dropping 100+ lb ahi that had us all hooting and hollering (between, you know, bucket breaks). Captain Jeff’s expertise and Joe’s quick moves made it all happen, guiding us through the chaos with finesse and flair. It was like watching a perfectly choreographed dance… on a bucking bronco of a boat. Mahalo nui to Captain Jeff and Joe for turning a topsy-turvy day into an unforgettable adventure! Seasick or not, we left with full hearts, epic fish stories, and a serious appreciation for these two legends. If you want a fishing charter that’s equal parts skill, heart, and hilarity, book with these guys. You’ll be hooked! 🎣

Awesome, best captain and crew ever!
4 Hour Trip – Shared on February 28, 20265 adults
Captain Asher and first mate Joey we’re fantastic. We had two boys ages six and eight with 3 adult adults. We caught eight tuna. From a distance. The captain was extremely knowledgeable and got us right on the fish. Joey made sure all the equipment was working and they were both so incredibly patient with the boys. We all had a day never to be forgotten.
