On Duty – Extreme and Fun Fishing
On Duty Sea Lovers invites you to experience the stunning waters of Faro.
You're likely to fish for Common Pandora, Mahi Mahi, Gilt-head (Seabream), Atlantic Mackerel, Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Mako Shark, Albacore Tuna, Bigeye Tuna, Blackfin Tuna, Bluefin Tuna, Skipjack Tuna, and more, depending on when you go. For these species, you're likely to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle. For the more adventurous among you, there's spearfishing.
Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids are absolutely welcome! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. If you have pets (dog, cat) they are welcome aboard as well. You're welcome to bring snacks – luckly, Capt. Carlos will have some on board!
Capt. Carlos welcomes you aboard a 32' Rodman sportfishing vessel that can carry up to 6 passengers. It comes with outriggers, a fighting chair, and all the essentials. There's a toilet on board for your convenience, a bedroom, a small saloon to rest and relax. Small kitchen as well. Capt. Carlos has rods and reels for you, as well as lures. Live bait is included, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.
Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. A 10–20% tip is customary to show your appreciation for their hard work.
There's no need to buy a fishing license, just show up ready for some fishing! Keep in mind that some fish may have harvest limits or closed seasons. If you don't know what to expect, ask the captain.
Some essentials to bring are sunglasses, a hat, and sunblock (non-spray). Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be food and some light snacks available on board.

Carlos and his crew did a fantastic job. They fullfill all wishes and you get the feeling of fishing with friends. The boat is one of the best i have ever chartered, clean and comfortable. The service on boat is excellent- very good food and all drinks perfect cold. The equipment on board is a fishermans dream, high end rods and reels in very good shape. They gave 120% too make the trip unforgetable. Next year i will come again, because i have a open bill with this marlin. Thank you Carlos for 3 great days, it was a real pleasure.

I thank you all for beeing with us. I hope all that you expected from us were 100%. Thank you Carlos and Gui.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience with On Duty – Extreme and Fun Fishing in Faro! The entire crew was wonderful, the people were great, and we couldn't have asked for better weather. A massive thanks to our captain, who was excellent and made the trip truly memorable. Highly recommend this for anyone looking to catch tuna in the Algarve—a perfect five-star day!

Thanks for beeing with us. You were great. Carlos

We booked this trip as trolling beginners, hoping for a big tuna experience. I understand that fishing is never guaranteed, and the bite was very difficult that day. We were told that only 2 out of about 15 boats caught BFT. However, the trip felt quite passive from a customer's point of view. In the morning, shallow trolling around 5–10 meters made sense because there were birds, some surface activity, and marks on the fish finder. But after midday, when there was no more surface activity, the sonar showed large marks several times around 30–45 meters. We asked more than once whether we could try deeper trolling, but this was not attempted. Maybe this was the captain's professional judgment, but it was not clearly explained to us. The boat was safe, the captain was polite, and he gave us a discount at the end, which we appreciated. Still, we expected a more flexible strategy and better communication when the fish were not biting.

Hi Hansheng Li and your crew! First off all, thanks for your honest opinion and for choosing On Duty to have a day like this, trying to catch a BlueFinTuna while trolling. About the guidance and explanation, we are sorry about that, we were explaining what we were doing and thinking, while making the fishing decisions but at some point, it's normal to stop saying all the things we are thinking when the crew is trying to enjoy by theirselves. We are always trying to make the crew enjoy the most, while they really want to know whats happening or even just enjoying the day. All the decisions we made while fishing were thought with the most professional point of view from my self, captain Carlos. In my experience, the best way to catch them was 100% like we did. Trolling with the lines 80 to 120 meters away from the boat, with the lures being 5 to 10 meters in depth. Maybe in the afternoon, you did not understood why we where going to that direction but it was because it was spotted fish there, in that day and time was ending so we needed to got back to shore. We even went one hour past the time we were supposed to be fishing, trying to catch them the most. About the boat experience, we hope you liked all the food, water and beer we had aboard because thats not normal in this fishing trips, having plates of food like that and all the confort aboard. Thank you and see you next time, Carlos and Guilherme

We had a nice trip even though the wind and waves were challenging. Be sure to take pills of you are not used to rough waters. The ones who did had a great day on On Duty. Carlos is a nice guy who takes his enterprise seriously. 👍

Thanks Nigel, all of you were warriors in the sea, not good conditions but good mood aboard over passed that. Perhaps another time for other kind of fish. My regards to all of you, Carlos
My group of six had an amazing time with Carlos and his son Gui! They were helpful and we caught so much fish!

Thanks for a great team that you were. Hope to see you soon, all the best, Carlos and Gui.
