Laguna Madre Fishing Co. is your ticket to the stunning waters of South Padre Island. Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Rey can tell you all about them.
Around here the fishing is popular for Black Drum, Redfish, Speckled Trout, and more, depending on the time of year. For these species, you're likely to drift and bottom fish using light tackle.
Trips with Laguna Madre Fishing Co. are kid-friendly, so go ahead and bring the whole family along! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Feel free to bring your own snacks so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty belly!
You'll step aboard a 25' Majek Center console that can carry up to 6 passengers. It comes with everything you need for a productive day on the water. Your captain will provide rods and reels.
You will need to purchase a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
Don't leave home without sunglasses, and sunscreen (non-spray). Water will be available for you. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

My cousins and I spend a lot of time fishing… A little saltwater… but mostly Great Lakes.
The day before we were set to head out on our booking Captain Rey messaged me with bad news… His boat went down… After a couple texts back and forth he assured me we were still good to go… And we were! We were a little early to the dock and they were in time.
They greeted us, me and my cousins, early in the morning, with smiles and eagerness. We’re not rookie fishermen buy any stretch of the imagination, but these men actually taught us a few things… I love it- we’re never told old to learn.
About an hour into the charter, i landed the biggest Red Drum ive ever seen- or caught. A monster 38”er that weighed in at about 20 lbs…. What a battle!
They day after that was a little slow- but thats not the captains fault…
We’ve dealt with MANY boat Captains on charters… Some polite… some with sour attitudes. Noth these 2 men! upbeat and encouraging and absolutely polite and freindly.
We totally recommend!!

Even though the fish weren’t exactly cooperating, we still had an amazing time on this charter thanks to the captain. He was truly awesome, knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly patient, especially with my 8-year-old son. He made sure my son felt included, explained everything in a way he could understand, and never rushed him. You can tell Rey genuinely loves what he does and cares about his guests having a great experience. This trip was such a positive memory for our family, and we would absolutely book again without hesitation.

He patiently taught them everything from baiting hooks to reeling in their first catches, and we ended up with a cooler full of fish.
