South Padre Island has a fish with your name on it, so let South Water Charters help you catch it! Your guide for the day is Captain Skylar, allowing you to benefit from years of local experience.
Local species include Permit, Spanish Mackerel, Flounder, Redfish, Pompano, Whiting, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Black Drum, Sheepshead, Snook, and more, depending on the time of year. You’ll target your catch by light tackle fishing, drifting, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Skylar can also have you Flounder gigging.
Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids are absolutely welcome! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Snacks are permitted onboard — bring your favorites so that nobody gets cranky on an empty stomach!
You’ll be casting lines from a 24’ Starcraft pontoon boat that holds up to 10 passengers. It comes with a fighting chair and all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. Capt. Skylar has rods and reels for you, as well as lures. Live bait is included, but you should ask the captain whether you’ll be catching it yourself.
Before coming aboard, it will be necessary to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
Some essentials to bring are sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen (non-spray). There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
Now, come aboard with South Water Charters and get hooked!
