Salty Fishing Charters

Cape Coral Yacht Club
Cape Coral FL, United States

Captain Daniel Medina, owner and operator of Salty Fishing Charters, is dedicated to showing you the best of what Southwest Florida fishing has to offer. He runs a variety of trips to suit you, your group, and your budget. Capt. Dan is a full-time guide who spends 200 to 300 days a year on the water. He takes pride in regularly putting clients on their fish of a lifetime.

You will be fishing aboard a 33’ World Cat catamaran. It is equipped with modern Garmin and Furuno electronics and is fully-equipped to Coast Guard requirements. For added safety, the boat also has a VHF radio, an EPIRB, and a two-way satellite messenger onboard.
The boat’s T-Top provides tons of space to escape the sun and there is a private head inside the center console. Large bean bags make even long runs comfortable. Captain Dan also has a pair of the highly sought-after NOAA Reef and Pelagic Permits, allowing him to legally harvest fish in federal waters.
With over 26 years of experience and 3 small kids of his own, Capt. Dan has the patience and knowledge to help get you and your little ones “hooked for life”. Salty Fishing Charters strives to deliver the most enjoyable experience possible, whether you have never been fishing before or you’re an “old salt” yourself.

Capt. Dan also understands some people are looking for that hardcore angling experience. He can hook you up on hard-pulling reef donkeys (Amberjack), or bottom-digging Firetruck Red Grouper. Mangrove, Lane, Vermilion, and Yellowtail Snappers make regular appearances, and during seasonal runs, Cobia and King Mackerel are also on the cards.

Salty Fishing Charters provides high-quality rods and reels (mostly Penn and Star), bait, ice, bottled water, fuel, fishing licenses, and a great experience. Just bring your shades, a hat, sunscreen, and whatever food or drinks you’d like for the day. Don’t forget to pack a cooler in the trunk, as Capt. Dan will fillet your catch for you after the trip.

My first stint at guiding came back when i lived in Miami/Homestead, FL. I was working in bank management, but found myself literally eating, breathing and living fishing. I would take friends out who had taken well known guides, and we would have equal or greater success. As many as 4-5 times a week, I would get out of work, take off my tie, and change in my car, heading to do some night fishing. I would fish a few hours, head home, clean the gear and fish, and do it all over the next day. I realized that if you truly loved what you do, you could do it forever. I got out of banking. I went and obtained my captain's license, and guided Biscayne Bay and Flamingo. I did this until we left Miami due to family medical issues where we moved to Ocala. We stayed for a year and a half in Ocala before I just couldn't take being away from the saltwater. We moved to Cape Coral so I could attend Marine Mechanics school. It was only a matter of time before the itch to guide again returned...

Great fun.  Caught several different types of fish.  Ran into some Bonito fish feeding and had a blast.

Captain Dan was friendly, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. We all felt immediately comfortable. The boat was in great shape and we sped out 15 miles to start off the day. He consistently put us on fish and was somehow always there to pull the fish off the hook or replace bait. We all enjoyed our day and would love to do it again.

Very knowledgeable of water and targeted species of fish. Personable and helpful in assisting anglers to land more fish. Willing in to teach interested parties the interpretation of chart plotter fish finder to help them use their own equipment later. All in all a most pleasant day was spent with Capt. Daniel on the water.
