It is difficult to dispute the fact that bottom fishing from South West Florida is pretty much impossible to beat. The team at Salty Fishing Charters are dedicated to acquainting you with the best of what the area’s bottom structures have to offer and run a variety of trips to suit you, your group, and your budget.

You will be fishing aboard a 26 ft Glacier Bay center console catamaran that gives a smooth and powerful ride to the fishing grounds even in choppy seas. Fitted with modern fish finding technology including a Garmin GPS and a Furuno bottom machine, the boat is perfect for finding the best bite on the day of your trip, and the two 200 gallon fish boxes will keep your catch fresh the whole day long.

Anyone who is passionate about bottom fishing in South West Florida will know that the further out you get, the better the quality of the fish you are likely to catch. For this reason, Salty Fishing Charters offer 12 hour long trips to fish the seriously deep waters where you can catch high-quality fish such as Scamp Grouper, Red Snapper, Vermillion Snapper, big Porgies, Mutton Snapper, and Black Grouper. At the same time, their shorter (six hour) trips give you the chance to still catch a good number of fish which, while perhaps not being the same quality as those caught further out, will still give you a very tasty meal.

The captain and crew at Salty Fishing Charters strive to deliver the most enjoyable experience possible on the water, whether you have never tried saltwater fishing before or you are an “old salt” yourself. With all trips on offer being custom private trips, the team will make sure each trip is tailored to your experience level and to what you want to get out of your day on the water.

My first stint at guiding came back when i lived in Miami/Homestead, FL. I was working in bank management, but found myself literally eating, breathing and living fishing. I would take friends out who had taken well known guides, and we would have equal or greater success. As many as 4-5 times a week, I would get out of work, take off my tie, and change in my car, heading to do some night fishing. I would fish a few hours, head home, clean the gear and fish, and do it all over the next day. I realized that if you truly loved what you do, you could do it forever. I got out of banking. I went and obtained my captain's license, and guided Biscayne Bay and Flamingo. I did this until we left Miami due to family medical issues where we moved to Ocala. We stayed for a year and a half in Ocala before I just couldn't take being away from the saltwater. We moved to Cape Coral so I could attend Marine Mechanics school. It was only a matter of time before the itch to guide again returned...

Down from Indiana for spring break with family and friends. My buddy and I and our 2 -18 year old son’s had a awesome day of fishing with Captain Dan. We had an 8 hour trip set up but the bite was so good, we kept on fishing. Nice to have a guide that was talking care of his customers and not trying to get back to shore. We hooked up with a nice Amber jack and a Barracuda along with several grouper and snapper. I would highly recommend salty charters if you’re in the fort Myers area.

Experienced, professional, educational,  helpful, patient and friendly are the words to describe Captain Dan.

As a lifelong city boy this was my first time out fishing in the ocean. Captain Dan couldn’t of made the trip any easier than he did. We had 6 people in our group. Ages 9 to 45.  The way Captain Dan manuvered though all 6 people preparing poles, prepping bait, hooking on the bait, taking the tough fish off the hooks was amazing.  He did it all that as he constantly gave great advice on how to fish better. You can tell Captain Dan was born on the seas. Great experience I’ll never forget.

3/4 day aj, cuda, grouper and more!

March 21, 2017

Had a nice weather day with smooth seas laying down as the day progressed. We started out chasing amberjacks. The fish were on the finicky side and were not agressively eating, but we did manage a few hook ups… Read Full Report →
