Puerto Rico Saltwater Experience 

ok so the day started with what i had asked captain Rafaell to do witch was jigging for bottom fish.. strawberry grouper lane, lane snapper, mutton snapper and to top it off an African Pompano. We then proceeded to go shallow and kept fishing the bottom with jigs and me, and my brother hooked up on an AJ and a king mackerel. After that, Captain Rafaell took us to the top water jacks where we proceeded to catch them on top water nonstop. Then the Captain told us his specialty was catching Mutton snapper or should I say giant mutton snapper on top water so he took us to the location where after two cast I hooked up to the biggest mine I've got to date on top water. Epic. When the charter was over, we decided to head in as we were all satisfied, but the Captain saw Tuna busting in the distance, so even though our time was up, the Captain drove straight to them and like something out of a special ops movie he set us up to land some Tuna to finish off the trip. I cannot express how well equipped this trip was and Captain Rafaell is an excellent captain that will put you on fish. I will be fishing with him again.

A magical day with Captain Raphael! We started trolling for Tarpon while Captain Rafael and Harry caught our live bait. Captain Raph brings a life time of expereince to the table and it shows! He knows how to track and follow the fish. Hebalso taught is how to sink the hook for a big one. We came home with Blue Runner, Mackrel, and Yellow Snapper! While they cleaned all of the fish, we got to hunt for more Tarpon off the dock. They are so huge and smart! Good thing Capatain Raph knows how to outsmart them! next year we are going to book the sunset trip. This time was a half day starting at 7am. We took our fresh catch to Harbour Restaurant on the water for sunset.. a day we will remember forever. Gracias, Captain Raphael and Harry, until next year <3

Our 5-hour charter with Captain Rafael in Cabo Rojo was truly one of the highlights of our first trip to Puerto Rico. Rafael runs a professional but relaxed, family-focused operation. He's fluent in both Spanish and English, explains what you're doing and why, and clearly knows these waters inside and out. Throughout the trip, he adjusted our plan to make the most of the conditions and keep things productive and fun. We mixed offshore and nearshore fishing, which gave us great variety. Offshore, we caught king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, yellowtail snapper, and red snapper, and released a solid barracuda that put up a great fight. Near shore around the mangroves, we hooked into a couple of tarpon — a major highlight for our teenage son, an avid fisher who loved the challenge. We also had bottlenose dolphins swimming near the boat, which made the experience feel even more special. Rafael cleaned and filleted our catch for us and recommended a local restaurant, El Balcón de Mindy, where they prepared some of our fish into a delicious lunch. Sitting down to enjoy fish we had just caught ourselves was an unforgettable part of the day. Of the many wonderful experiences we had in Puerto Rico, this was absolutely among the best. We're already looking forward to coming back and booking another trip with Captain Rafael.

We did the 3 hour sunset excursion with Captain Raphael and it was more than I'd hoped for! I was able to help my children reel in a large Mackerel (~5 lbs), a mini Tuna (~ 7 lbs), several varieties of large Snapper, Lizard Fish, and good sized a Jack fish too The sunset was amazing and the trip out to the reef was only about 15 minutes and we had lines down. When we got back to the docks there were huge Tarpon cleaning up the guts he was tossing in the water. He asked me if I wanted to try and hook one of them; of course I said yes. He spent another 20 minutes of his time trying to help me get one of those clever fish. It didn't happen, but there were many powerful and exciting hits which ended in them getting off the hook. Better luck next time! Captain Raphael is a generous man with a solid knowledge of the area he fishes. Highly recommend!

This fishing captain I would say is by far the best!!! He does everything in his power to make sure you have the best experience possible and are able to catch at least one massive fish no matter what it takes… He's very kind and welcoming which makes the experience that much better! Hands down, I highly recommend him and definitely plan on coming back and fishing with him again!
