Hudson River Charter

Just listed

Mohicantuck is the Native American word for the Hudson River, meaning “the river that flows both ways.” Unlike most rivers, the Hudson is tidal, with water that moves south toward the ocean and then reverses north with the tide. Fishing here takes local knowledge, and a good captain knows how to work the river in every stage of the tide.

On our trips, you’ll experience the Hudson the right way. Our 6-hour trips usually begin by catching our own bait, which is not only effective but also a lot of fun and a great way to start the day.

Once the bait is ready, the hunt begins. Our main target is the adult Striped Bass, one of the Hudson River’s most prized fish. During this time of year, our tactics revolve around the herring that run through the river. We fish with either live bait or cut bait. As my “sea daddy” used to say, “we’re putting out a buffet for them.”

You’ll be fishing aboard a 23’ Pro-Line sportfishing boat that comfortably accommodates up to 4 passengers and comes fully equipped for a productive day on the water.

Morning trips typically depart around 6:00 AM. Afternoon and evening trips are scheduled around the tide cycle, since some days the best bite may only happen for a couple of hours before dark. Because of this, afternoon trips are priced hourly at $100 per hour, depending on the conditions and bite window.

All rods, reels, tackle, and live bait are provided.

A standard fishing license is not required, but anglers must enroll in the free Marine Registry, which can be completed online or at locations where licenses are issued.

We recommend bringing sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen (non-spray), and bottled water. Additional drinks are welcome, and alcohol is allowed in moderation.

Come experience the unique tidal waters of the Hudson River and chase one of its most legendary fish, the Striped Bass.
