These waters are known for Amberjack, Redfish, Sheepshead, Speckled Trout, Blacktip Shark, Flounder, and more – with any luck, you'll find out for yourself! You can expect to do some light tackle fishing, popping, trolling, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
NOLA Coastal Ventures is a child-friendly charter service, so go ahead and bring the whole family along! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. You're welcome to bring snacks!
Your trip begins aboard a 22' Rookie Boats bay boat that holds up to 4 passengers. It has all the essentials. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures. Live bait is available, but you should ask the captain whether you'll be catching it yourself.
You will need to purchase a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
It's always wise to bring sunglasses, and sunscreen (non-spray). Drinks are included, free of charge. There will be some light snacks available on board.

Kids Fishing Camp on April 1, 2026I’ve been fishing in Lake Pontchartrain with Captain Jason a few times now and I always leave happier than I arrived! He’s knowledgable and very helpful with the kids. He goes out of his way to ensure we have a stress-free time: he baits our hooks, runs over with the scoop net for the heavier fish, and provides enough snacks and drinks to last all day. If you’re thinking about booking, just do it!

Not only was he extremely patient with the kids, it seemed like he genuinely enjoyed taking them out. We stopped and several different spots and caught fish at them all. We all had a blast and would recommend booking Jason!

We went on a halfday fishing trip for my boyfriend's birthday. Jason was great communicating with us ahead of time (we had to reschedule from our original trip date due to weather). He was very patient with me (as it was my first time fishing) and let my boyfriend do his thing while offering inpoint when asked. While the fishing wasn't as great as some recent days (per Jason), Jason never stopped looking for the bite and all told, we ended up with 14 fish (a variety - speckled trout, croker, some catfish, and a large black drum). In addition, Jason truly went above and beyond and stayed out late with us to ensure we got a few more fish. He even brought the fish to a nearby restaurant where we were eating (so we could get there before it closed!). Highly recommend this fishing charter and we will be back!

Jason took me and my buddy out. Made every effort to put us in the best position to catch fish and we caught plenty! He's a really good captain and made for a great day. We look forward to coming back.

out of my last 5 trips this one was top 3 and he aint number 3 ! he had us on fish a good 2-3 hours before the bite slowed down
