Had an absolutely fantastic day out with Thao and my 13-year-old son. Thao was brilliant, incredibly knowledgeable, great company and clearly knew exactly where the fish were. At one point it felt like half the other boats were following his lead. We caught four king salmon, three of them over 25 lbs, and had a few more very close calls. My son loved every minute of it. One of the highlights of our trip and a day we’ll both remember. Couldn’t recommend Thao more highly.

Thank you for the kind words, Marc! I really appreciate you taking the time to write this recap of our trip! Best wishes to you and your son!

He guided us through the process and made sure we were all take care of. the experience was wonderful, we caught loads of fish, would do again; thank you captain Thao. if you are looking for a thrill , be prepared to be up on your feet, he sure makes it feek like a sporting event

If you're looking for the best fishing charter around, book with Captain Tao—you won't regret it! My brother and I had the best day of fishing we've ever had. We limited out on coho salmon and also caught multiple huge king salmon. The action was nonstop, and the quality of the fish was incredible. The weather was windy, and Captain Tao was upfront and honest about the conditions. He even gave us the option to rebook, but since we were only in Seattle for one day, we decided to go. We're so glad we did! We were one of the only boats that went out, and it ended up being an unforgettable trip. Captain Tao runs a fast, well-equipped boat with top-notch gear, and from the moment we stepped aboard, it felt like we were fishing with an old friend. He was knowledgeable, professional, easy to talk to, and worked hard to make sure we had an amazing experience. This trip exceeded every expectation we had. We can't recommend Captain Tao enough, and we'll absolutely be back to fish with him again the next time we're in town. Thanks for an unforgettable day!
We had an outstanding fishing charter with Captain Thao! From start to finish, he worked incredibly hard to make sure everyone had a successful and enjoyable day on the water. My husband, father, and I had an AMAZING time. During the instructional cast, captain caught a fish! It set a great mood as we joked about the fish being a “paid actor” lol. Another guy immediately caught another fish right after! Everyone in our group caught fish, including dog shark (annoying things), King salmon, and Coho salmon. Captain Thao’s knowledge of the local waters was impressive. He constantly stayed busy resetting lines, baiting hooks, finding fresh bait, and helping anglers maximize their chances of success. He took the time to explain what we were seeing on the water, showing us krill, bait balls, and teaching us techniques for targeting Silver salmon during peak season. One thing that really stood out was how accommodating and service-oriented he was. He made getting our fishing licenses incredibly easy by handling everything right on board the same day as the trip. He also filleted and cleaned fish for guests to take home. As if the fishing wasn’t enough, Captain Thao surprised us with a delicious bento meal from Seattle Fish Guys along with fruit soda, complimentary water, and excellent hospitality throughout the day. Those thoughtful touches made the trip feel even more special. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, hardworking captain who genuinely wants his guests to have a great experience and catch fish, I highly recommend Captain Thao. We made wonderful memories, learned a lot, caught fish, and left with coolers full of fresh salmon. We would absolutely book with him again! Our boat MAXED out on catches. Apparently this was a first! 7 people, 14 fish! The sea lions by the dock were grateful, too, for the fish carcasses we tossed overboard. They were a much welcomed cute ending to a great time.
A life-changing experience fishing MONSTER SALMON Hooking up 5 salmon an hour. At one point, we had such a good hookup rate, we had 3 fish in the net at once. I need to start by saying that Captain Thao is different from all of the other captains who’ve taken me fishing. He’s patient and knowledgeable, and excited to teach you about anything regarding ecological fish behavior, various angling techniques, and boating. We had such a great time socializing and learning from him, we would have been fine without catching anything. But MAN is he a pro! With his instruction, we caught over 20 salmon, with 6+ King/Chinook and maxing out the 12 Coho we could legally keep before the end of our trip. Seriously, I will never forget this day. This was easily the fishing trip of a lifetime.
