Traveltruly Fly Fishing
Spend the day in tranquility surrounded by New Zealand’s stunning nature, as you head out on an unforgettable drive-out fly fishing adventure with Traveltruly Fly Fishing. You will target Brown and Rainbow Trout on pristine, clear water, as Matt Butler guides you through sight fishing methods to help you confidently land that fish of a lifetime. The trip departs from Te Anau or can meet self-drivers coming from Queenstown.
Matt uses upstream dry fly and nymph methods that target feeding fish in clear water. Generally, fish will be around 3-6lb in size, with the possibility of encountering some that are even larger. Fishing locations will vary depending on conditions on the day, however, rest assured that no matter if you fish one of the various rivers, in mountainous valleys with forest, or vast tussock plains, you will be surrounded by spectacular water and landscape.
Adventures begin at 8:00am as you drive 1-2 hours to the best location to suit conditions on the day, and you will be fishing on the water by around 10:00am. Depending on the location and your fitness levels, you may need to walk 2-5km upstream during the day and back again, so be ready to explore on foot. Trips return to town by around 6-7pm, or earlier if you prefer.
For an even richer wilderness experience, you can access remote backcountry rivers by helicopter or jet boat, which can be organised with one of the local transport providers.
If you are after a breathtaking and unforgettable fishing experience, come fishing with Matt to explore this amazing region!
