Southern Hooker Fishing Charters

3605 Thomas Drive
Panama City Beach FL, United States

Operating out of the bountiful fishing port of Panama City Beach, Southern Hooker Fishing Charters provides bottom fishing, trolling, and shark fishing charters in any combination you like. Headed by the solid team of Captains Nick Eyles and Robert Markham, the company combines expertise with a large, comfortable boat to create memorable fishing experiences in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Southern Hooker is a 41 ft Hatteras, a classic sportfishing boat that is ideally designed for offshore fishing charters. With a restroom on board and a very large deck, the boat will be a comfortable base for everyone on board. It is equipped with all the marine electronics you could ask for, including a GPS, fishfinder, VHF radio, and a radar, to make sure you find the best places to fish and are in contact with the shore at all times.

Southern Hooker Fishing Charters runs a wide variety of trips, ranging from short four hour nearshore trolling charters to full 12 hour trolling and bottom fishing marathons. Logically, the longer the trip you take, the further offshore you go, and the bigger and more plentiful are the fish you are likely to catch.

Shark fishing charters are also a fun possibility: these trips can either be booked on their own or added as an extension to any other trip.

Had trip scheduled for several weeks.  Thursday before a Saturday PM trip I had heard nothing from Captain so I called.  His father stated yes trip was still on and his son would get back in touch with me.  Son called and asked if I would mine going out with boat next to him due to mechanical issues and family in town.  I agreed if it was a similar experience and at the same price.  The new captain was supposed to call me but did not so Saturday AM I called and was told trip was moved up by 1 hour and asked what I was being charged- and that he charged $100 more- was that a problem?  I said yes and he said since other captain was his friend he would do trip at agreed upon price.  At 2:30 PM for a 5:00 trip I get a phone call that have I looked at weather- some pop up storms on shore.  Then at 3:30 ish I get a call they are coming in and its so rough that we probably would not enjoy ourselves and catch fish so we should cancel- so we did.  The weather report indicated only 1ft seas at the time so…....
I would not recommend.

We are sorry we were not able to take you fishing.  When we have to cancel a trip, we work hard to reschedule or find another boat for our customers so they don’t miss out on a fishing trip.  The captain we recommended has over 20 years experience, runs a great charter, and has a solid reputation, and neither he nor our captain take customers out in rough seas, especially when they have young children as yours on board.  The captain notified you of rough seas as he was coming in from a trip that had to be shortened due to 5+ foot waves and increasing winds, a firsthand report.  He said that you wanted to go shark fishing from the beach, and he gave you the contact info for someone who could take you.  We understand your frustration, but the decision to cancel your shark trip was made in the interest of safety for you and your family.
