Gulf Island Charters invites you to team up with Captain Donald Roy for an action-packed, catch and release fishing experience out of Orange Beach, Alabama. He has been fishing these waters for most of his life and knows them like the back of his hand. Whatever you might want to do on the water, he’s bound to know the best way to get started.
Captain Donald specializes in kid fishing trips where kids can learn to fish in a safe yet fun environment. While most charter fishing trips on the Gulf Coast are adult-driven, this trip is all about the kids. Their fishing trips are designed to introduce your children to saltwater fishing in calm protected waters close to shore. The fish you can expect to hook are Catfish, Croaker, White Trout, and Black Drum, just keep in mind all trips are catch and release.
You’ll be fishing on his 26’ Sea Fox center console that runs on a pair of 150 HP Evinrude engines. With a capacity of 6, it’s the perfect vessel for small groups and family trips. A full array of Simrad and Furuno navigation electronics will ensure you’re on the right track during the trip. It’s also equipped with a clean restroom and freshwater sink. Please note that the captain operates on multiple ships and in case you are sailing on a different one than the above, that does not have a restroom onboard, the nearest one is 5 minutes away on the shore.
You’ll be provided with all the necessary fishing gear and tackle for a productive trip. While there is bottled water aboard, you are more than welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks for the trip. Come on down and treat yourself to some of the best fishing around!

Donald is a fine captain
I went off on this excursion without much expectation. My 11 year old daughter was reluctant to participate but I enforced some mandatory fun into her life. The barometric pressure was up so there wasn't much fish activity but Donald still knew a spot to catch some trout. Nothing noteworthy but still some fishing activity on a poor day to fish. Don, also, knew where public access restrooms where nearby. Don even knew how to perk up a tragically hip 11 year old when fishing was too boring and hot. He shifted gears from fishing guide to grandpa in an instant and had her lsughing and giggling about dolphins. We cut our ride about 45 minutes short due to rain and lightning. But, overall had an outstanding kid oriented boat trip.

So great with kids!
We took this fishing trip with 4 kids ages 4 to 11 and all 4 caught multiple fish! Besides fishing, we saw dolphins up close, got to ride the boat fast per the 4 year olds request, and even visited the "secret potty". Yep the potty was even a highlight. Captain and crew were so patient and kid friendly. They taught some casting and gave opportunities to take pictures with each fish caught. There were multiple high fives and hugs given. I would absolutely recommend to families with children! We did bring our own light snacks.

Fishing Blast
It had been raining off and on all week long so I wasnt too sure and texted the guides. He assured me it would stop and 1 hour before the trip indeed it did. I wasnt expecting anything this fun of a trip due to the rain showers. My kids absolutely loved the trip and caught plenty of fish. Without losing any of the guides equipment! Haha He and his giance were very personable and expect to tip the man because he's worth it! What a fun experience and we will definitely book with him in the future.

Great afternoon
My daughter caught the first fish and her boyfriend managed to catch three. They were small, but they didn’t care. It was just us out there without a big crowd of people. The captain and his girlfriend were so friendly and helpful with catching the fish. She and I talked about teaching. She even took pictures for us to remember the trip. The price was the cheapest I found. It was the perfect way to end our vacation. We will for sure be back next summer.

Wonderful First Trip with My 2 Young Grandsons
This was my grandsons, both age 10, first fishing trip. The boys were taught correctly how to fish by the Captain and had an absolutely great time on the water. For our 3 hours of inshore fishing, we were able to catch about 50 fish. I can not thank the crew enough for their patience and providing us with good times and memories of a lifetime.
