Coeur De Lion

Route Royal
Trou Aux Biches, Mauritius

Coeur De Lion was set up to share my love for fishing to the public. Having been patrolling the open Indian Ocean since the age of 15, I decided to set up to my own company to share my passion. Screaming reels is what I live for and the excitement I get from hooking up is still the same as when I first started.

For me, client satisfaction is at the forefront of everything I do. That is why I, as owner and captain of the boat, make it a priority to attend and participate in every fishing trip. My 2 man crew also share the same passion and expertise in catching fish. Unlike other boats, I make it a must to ensure that the client actually enjoys the thrill that is big game fishing and hooking up monsters. As I am the owner, I never hesitate to extend the fishing trips “free of charge”, especially if the fish are active or if fishing has been quiet. My aim for every fishing trip is that the client feels at ease, enjoys the day and, of course, catches their dream fish.

The boat, a locally built 30 foot offshore vessel, was designed for the Indian Ocean’s waters. Its distinctive shape increases its stability and ability to ride waves smoothly, and the twin Yamaha 80 HP engines allow quick access to fishing grounds. Equipped with a fighting chair, outriggers, and centre rigger, along with a GPS and fish finder, it maximises the chances of catching fish. Whether it is light trolling around FADs or heavy offshore trolling, you will be supplied with a range of Shimano Tiagra reels and rods, as well as an extensive array of different lures, from soft plastics to Islanders.

I sincerely hope to see you on your next trip.

Tight Lines,

Capt Kevin Marie Jeanne.

Born in a fishing dynasty, fishing has always been present in my life. Having left school at the tender age of 16, I decided to focus fully on fishing to follow my father's steps. To help me achieve this, I decided to enroll in a local fishing course to become a registered fisherman on the island. This course allowed me to obtain not only a fishing licence but also a live bait licence for FAD fishing. At the same time, this has also allowed me to gain more expertise and know the numerous techniques of fishing. The reason why I chose to become a fisherman is to share my passion with others. Seeing the enjoyment of a beginner or an experienced angler hooking up gives me as much excitement as them. I have always adopted this hands-on approach as I am always present on all my fishing trips. I like to ensure that all my clients are always fully satisfied and maximize their chances of catching and to allow this, my presence is key. For me, fishing is not a passion. It is a way of life.

Day started early 0400 AM, good thing cause then you’re at the fishing grounds in sunrise.
We started fishing for live bait, But the fish wasn’t biting. Captain Kevin and his crew really trues everything and worked the area.
The we started trolling for Marlin, and after e few hours on of the exciters bursted in large splash! Captain Kevin pushed the throttle, and up of the water jumped a large blue marlin. Unfortuneatly it didn’t take the bait. But the adrenaline sure started to pump!
We trolled a bit moore but the Marlin never came back.
Then we headed north for some Dorado. Captain Kevin and the crew showed their experience when they read the birds flyingpattern, and knew it was dorado.
The fishing was fantastic and we landed eight nice Dorados, they sure give you a fight!

Overall a perfect day, if the Marlin had taken the bait it could have been to perfect, especially since it was my first big game fishing trip

Dear Rob, thank you for your review. Although fishing was a bit difficult that day , we appreciate that you had a good day with us. It would have been a dream for us to make you land your first blue but it wasn’t case . The dorados made up for it . We hope to see you again for The big One.
Regards Capt Kevin and The Crew.
