Spot Stalker Charters specializes in shallow water (flats) fishing targeting a variety of great species, such as Redfish, Spotted Seatrout, Black Drum, Snook, and others. Sight fishing is the primary method of fishing when weather and conditions allow.
For tackle, all rods on board are custom-built MHX rods paired with FFP Osprey spinning reels. The boat you'll be fishing from is a 24' Skeeter SX240, a state-of-the-art Shallow water Bay Boat. She's fully equipped to give you all the advantages over the fish, with a MinnKota wireless trolling motor and a high-end Garmin 94SV suite for navigation and fishfinding.
At various times of the year, oversize Black Drum will frequent Haulover Canal and several of the causeways. This fish can run up to 50 lbs and will put up a considerable battle on light tackle. A live bait well is available on board to help you focus on the fishing, and give you an edge in that fight.
Most of the area where you will be fishing is included in the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge which may provide you with a ton of wildlife encounters along with the occasional rocket launch from the NASA facility located on Merritt Island.

We had a very nice time fishing with Capt Todd. Conditions were a little challenging, with the water levels being very high and trying to stay out of the wind, but the Capt was still able to put us on fish, and ended the trip with 2 monster Reds!

I had recently had neck and shoulder surgery, and asked the guide to get fresh cut or live bait instead of lures. He also changed the time to launch and fished from 11-3 because morning weather was near freezing. Fishing wasn’t great, but we did catch a lot of different species, and fish aren’t always biting. Did catch a new species for me Snook, and was a great day in the water.

I began fishing the flats and backwaters of Florida over 20 years ago. I have lived in Florida now since 2008 and spend over 200 days a year on the water in the Mosquito Lagoon and North Indian River areas. I grew up in the Pacific NW and fishing is some of my earliest memories. After my time in the Navy and College I went to work for Lamiglas, Inc. as a rod/blank designer. Lamiglas is one of the NW's largest Fishing Rod Manufacturers. After 20 years designing rods for Lamiglas I moved to Florida where I have been designing rod building components and equipment along with rod blanks for Mud Hole Custom Tackle.
