Backin' Up Sportfishing Charters provides exciting, family-friendly angling adventures along the nearshore waters of North Carolina's world-famous Outer Banks. Hop aboard the 'Backin' Up,' a true fishing machine, and get ready to cast your line for a whole host of awesome species!
The Backin' Up is the largest inshore and nearshore vessel departing out of Pirate's Cove Marina in Manteo. How's that for some serious bragging rights? Capable of accommodating up to 6 guests, this 46' Sheldon Midgett boat was completely rebuilt in 2014, and designed with sportfishing in mind. She's the perfect place to begin your fishing adventure!
Backin' Up is decked out with a comfortable and fully air-conditioned salon, a bathroom, the very latest in electronics, and a spacious cockpit. if you're a game fishing fanatic, you'll be pleased to discover there's a large Marlin chair, as well as two smaller fighting chairs.
This charter specializes in nearshore fishing the waters of the Outer Banks, meaning that both experienced and brand-new anglers will feel right at home on their adventure. Opt for a shorter trip, and you'll be targeting species such as Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, Red Drum, Cobia, and Flounder. They offer the perfect introduction to fishing these waters!
For more experienced anglers, a longer adventure means you can head up to 30 miles offshore, where you'll cast your line for Tilefish, Seabass, Grouper, Amberjack, Shark, King Mackerel, and trolling species such as Sailfish and Mahi Mahi.
Custom fishing tackle is provided on board, and your captain and crew recommend that you bring plenty of snacks with you, as well as suitable clothing for the weather, polarized sunglasses, and soft-soled shoes. Most importantly, come with a bucket of smiles and an icebox to bring your catch home with you!

The Backin' Up Sportfishing crew, Captain Jeremy and first mate Wesley were the best. They were knowledgeable, courteous, helpful and patient! They were great helping my 8 year old grandson and teaching him how to fish. The boat was fantastic! It was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Overall our trip was one to remember. Looking forward to out next trip with Backin' Up Sportfishing!

a few people in our group had never been on a boat or fishing on the boat, the experience overall was great. water was a little rough, the charter conpany did warn us before hand. we caught kobia, Spanish mackerel and a blue. first mate was awesome and 100% recommend these guys. call ahead to make sure they have availability.

Did a half day inshore trip. It was great, there were 2 families and the Captain and Mate did a great job! Caught 9 Spanish Mackerel and 11 Blues. The kids were ages 4 and 6, they had a great time! Definately recommend Captain Jeremy and Mate Wesley!

we loved our 4 hour experience. we caught fish on a comfortable boat with friendly and helpful staff. absolutely recommend. they worked with us to find a time that worked for out schedule when the fish would be biting!

From the moment we arrived until we got back to the dock the captain amd crew were professional amd friendly. This was the first time my 10 year old daughter was on a boat like this amd fishing in the ocean and she had a blast. Within the first kinute of dropping the first line in the water we were hooked onto a Bonita and we jad constant action. Highly recommended!
