His nickname hails from his years of serving as a United States Coast Guard in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He proudly wears his nickname, and has even named his charter company after it!
Capt. Chad is a native of Saint Petersburg, a full-time professional offshore charter captain, a USCG licensed captain, and is certified by the American Red Cross in first aid and CPR. You'll be in safe hands when you cast a line alongside him, and he'll happily show you the local tips and tricks he's picked up.
El Capitano will take you out on his 32' SeaVee center console, powered by twin 350 HP Mercury engines, with a maximum cruising speed of 45 knots. She can accommodate up to 6 guests, so bring along your best angling buddies, or make this a family vacation to remember.
This powerful vessel will whisk you to faraway deep blue waters where you can test your skills against a number of offshore species such as Blackfin Tuna, huge Amberjack, Grouper, and Snapper. She's decked out with all the fishing gear you need, as well as a livewell for the bait, GPS, and a fishfinder to locate the hottest bite around. There's also a superb flybridge for sight fishing.

We brought our four kids (12yo-5yo) on a six hour offshore trip. We came back with a ton of great memories and a cooler packed with meat. Captain Chad was so incredible with the kids. They will have lifelong memories of this amazing day. We ran into a large school of mahi mahi, which was super fun. We had an awesome battle with a cobia and got some sweet photos. We caught a ton of red grouper. One with an epic fight my son will NEVER forget. Nice mangrove snapper. Tasty lane snappers. I’m probably forgetting more. It was non-stop reeling. Great boat boat. Super well maintained. Very roomy, which was comfortable for fishing and traveling. If El Capitano is open, don’t hesitate. Definitely worth it.

12 Hour Trip – Offshore on June 4, 2016One of the best experiences in my life. We booked the overnight snapper trip with El Capitano's Offshore. The knowledge to catch all the different species was very impressive. We had tuna basically jumping in the boat with the captian's experience catching with tuna. The experience was even more exciting since we were catching the tuna at night with the lights behind the boat. After getting worn out catching as many tuna as we wanted, we ventured offshore for deep dropping for yellow edge grouper and tile fish. This was my first time doing this type if fishing. The bite was great and ended up with a few of the Yellow Edge Grouper and Tile fish. The trip was finished off coming in to shallower water for the grand finally. We caught our limit of American Red Snapper and Gag Grouper with a few Red Grouper mixed in. The overall experience was outstanding and I would highly recommend taking a charter on El Capitano's Offshore. The captain was prepared with proper tackle and equipment. As you can see in the pictures, there was no shortage of fish!! The captain and crew are very professional and made this a fun learning experience.

Full Day Trip – Offshore on June 12, 2016Captain Chad Hickman put us on a ton of fish. His boat is fast and comfortable which got us to our destination quick. As soon as we got there, our poles started bending over immediately. The action was hot and we landed some beasts. One of the best fishing days I've ever had. Would highly recommend ElCapitano's Offshore for your next fishing trip.

He asked us what we wanted to catch and made it happen his boat and equipment are of the highest qualitype. It is very evident that is passionate about putting g people on fish. We had a great charter with Capt. Chad. We booked with him the day before due to a cancellation of a previously booked charter. He not only put us on the fish, he also communicated ahead of time and recommended a slight time shift to make a better weather window. I would highly recommend Capt. Chad and El Capitano's Offshore for anyone visiting the St. Pete area.
Had an awesome experience on early morning run to target grouper. Weather was cool starting off but just perfect later in morning while fishing. We caught fish at every stop with Capt Chad, and easily caught or limit of keepers. Red Grouper mostly, several other species caught as well. A really nice experience for son and myself. I recommend El Capitano charters wholeheartedly! We will book again next time we visit area.
