Your trip will take place aboard 'Tangier II', a spacious vessel with plenty of room for 6 anglers. She is a 33' Blackfin Flybridge model with a pair of 375 HP Caterpillar engines and can cruise at a top speed of 24 knots.

Tangier II is fully outfitted with advanced technologies and electronics. The boat has a galley with a freezer, multiple coolers, sleeping areas for 4 passengers, a full marine toilet, and 2 showers.

Maritime Operations will work hard to make that special occasion one to remember. The crew will assist you throughout the adventure from baiting your hooks to serving and cleaning up. Catering might also be available if requested prior to the trip.

Your day out will take you fishing the local artificial reefs, wreck, and offshore grounds. You will be able to enjoy a heavy tackle workout, hit the reefs for Grouper and Snapper, and troll for Kingfish and Spanish Mackerel. Barracuda, Bonita and more species are also among the popular catches!

All fishing licenses, rods, reels, lures, and tackle will be provided by the crew. Live bait will also be available if the day calls for it, along with a complimentary fish cleaning service. Tips for good service are customary.

Air conditioning is available at the dock.
Please note that everyone who comes aboard will need to sign a waiver.

Gary Spivack
Response from Captain

Marla: Thanks for your kind words. In spite of the weather playing a few tricks on us, we were able to get a decent half-day in. we enjoyed having you and Brian on noard and hope you’ll fish with us again soon. Capt. Gary

Great trip
Half Day Trip (Early) on October 24, 20256 adults

We had a great time. Weather was bad further out so the Captain made a new plan close to shore. We caught plenty of fish.

Reported catch:
Spanish Mackerel
Gary Spivack
Response from Captain

Patrick: Thank you for your kind words. Everyone else was cancelling trips that day, but I thought we had a chance at a few inshore fish. For once, I was right! And with my mate Jose laid up, my dear wife Julie did a great job driving the boat. I’m pleased we pulled off a successful trip for your group. I hope you will think of us next time you are in the area. Capt. Gary

Great fishing trip!
Half Day Trip (Early) on February 27, 20254 adults

I was looking for a small private party fishing trip. I searched around and found Captain Gary and booked my trip. He got in touch with me the same day I booked and kept in contact with me periodically all the way to the time of our trip. He is very informative and cares about who he takes out to sea. Jose, Gary’s First mate was very helpful as well and knowledgeable of how to fish and where the fish were. When we got to our destination we drop our lines in and immediately started catching fish. At times, the four of us (family) had a fish on and in the boat at the same time. Jose and Gary were able to keep up with helping take fish off the line to get them back in the water. It was outstanding! Captain Gary made no promises as he can’t make the fish bite, although we did end up with a wonderful time on the water and a nice catch. Thanks again Captain Gary!

Reported catch:
Red Grouper
Scup (Porgy)
Scamp Grouper
Grunt

Response from Captain

Ron: It was a pleasure having you and your family on the boat. I am pleased to hear that everyone had a good time and, although the fish weren’t huge, I think they kept everyone busy. Too bad we couldn’t keep those grouper we caught. Maybe next time. Thanks for your business and we hope you’ll come see us again. Capt. Gary

Experience counts
3/4 Day Trip on February 3, 20246 adults

Captain Gary and his 1st Mate Hosea are both experienced captains and anglers. Took us out 15 miles, and found us fish! They knew when to bail on a spot and hit another. The six of us were all successful as we reeled in multiple species of good eating. Boat ride - out and back in were smooth and comfortable on what was a calm beautiful day. Gary’s twin diesels running full stride on the way back in provided for the perfect background for a 1/2 hour snooze if that is something that appeals to you. 5-Stars

Response from Captain

Thanks for your kind words and a great review. We enjoyed having you all on board and I think we had a pretty good day. Jose and I hope you all can come back when we have some mackerel and barracuda to try for. Til then , thanks for your business. Capt. Gary

Excellent Experience
Half Day Trip (Early) on April 1, 20242 adults2 children

I never write these so forgive me. My wife and I have 10 year old and 7 year old. We were looking for someone experienced; they had a larger boat with bathroom; and would provide the best possible experience for first-timers deep sea fishing. Capt Gary and Jose knocked it out of the park! Not only did we catch a mess of fish but they taught the children several valuable lessons. We cannot speak highly enough of our experience. Enough to where I actually wrote one of these things…

I have been in Florida for several years and enjoy fishing the Gulf waters myself. Fishing is always a challenge and is never the same day twice. I am a 'people person' and have fun with the people I meet as a charter captain. I have ten years experience as a charter captain on the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River running a tour boat. I was also an assistance tow captain for TowBoatUS on the Chesapeake Bay and here in the Tampa Bay area as well as a boatswain's mate in the US Coast Guard. Charter fishing is the best of all worlds to me. Our mate, Capt. Jose Pais, is a St. Petersburg native. Growing up here on the water gives him many years of local knowledge and history. Jose is also an active spear fisherman which gives him a unique perspective on the reefs, ledges and wrecks we fish. He has seen them up close. Jose also has first-hand experience with the local fish biomass and their behavior.
