Big Jim's Charters has been a local favorite for over 30 years in Juneau, Alaska, as these guys go the extra mile for everyone. They know the hot spots for Salmon and Halibut, and will work hard to provide a successful trip and an exciting experience. They operate from May 1 to Sept 15.
Our crew and Captains are experianced fishermen. Their job is to help you, teach you and get you on the fish.
You will fish aboard a like new 30 foot Offshore 2017 Duckworth with 2023 twin 300 hp Mecury's that get you to the fishing grounds fast, cruise at 30 plus knots. The boat has a private head, all the safety equipment, as well as a radar, chart plotters, Sonar fish finder, electric downriggers.
Capt. Mike can pick you up at the Fisherman's Bend Marina where you'll start your nearshore and offshore adventure. When you fish for Salmon, you will slow troll, one rod per angler. And when fishing for Halibut, you will drift and jig off the bottom, also using one rod per angler. This way, everyone will get to fish and have a chance of catching a nice dinner.
Once you return to the dock, your fish will be cleaned and filleted for dinner, and the rest can be beheaded and gutted. Capt. Mike will recommend a processing plant that can store your fish until you are ready to have it sent to your home address.
All charters include sightseeing and whale watching while fishing, all bait, and top-of-the-line rods and reels. We can arrage Pickup from cruise ship and return about $50.00 each way for up to 10 people, you will need to pay the cab.

We had such an awesome and successful halibut fishing experience with Captain Jon and Landon! We chose an afternoon half day trip since our cruise ship didn’t dock until 9 am, and most morning/full day trips started at 8 am. Captain Jon took us to a great spot in Auke Bay, and as soon as we cast our lines, everyone on our boat immediately hooked on halibut, which kept happening every cast until we caught our keepers. With time left on the charter, we moved spots and started fishing for rockfish. In addition to fishing, Captain Joh stopped for us to see some local sea lions and humpback whales, which were on our route to our second fishing spot and back to the dock. The water was also relatively calm in the bay. My wife is prone to motion sickness even in the calmest of water, but didn’t have any issues. Overall an awesome experience and would definitely book this trip again in the future!

We ended up with the best Whale watch and Salmon catching trip we could ask for! we had over 20 whales “bubble fishing/netting” within 50 yards of us… they just kept getting closer and closer to us and were able to catch some great videos! even caught some Cohos and pink salmon! overall awesome trip and would absolutely recommend!!! The Captain and Levi were GREAT!!!

We went after salmon first. Caught a shaker king and a couple of legal salmon. Moved on to halibut and rock fish which we limited out in by noon. Back to salmon all afternoon with no results. Didn’t see any other boats with fish either. Lots of whales some bubble feeding. Great food and coffee provided with donuts

We have chartered fished in Florida, Lake Erie, Cabo and a couple other places over the years. This Alaska fishing trip was BY FAR our best experience. The communication from the day I made the reservation until the trip was completed was first class. Our captain was amazing. We got our limit of Halibut within the 1st hour. With our extra time we saw whales, seals, harbor porpoises and eagles. We also picked up 7 Rockfish. I highly recommend Fishing Booker

The crew was awesome. All very knowledgeable of what they were doing and very patient with us. We caught 13 salmons and got to see some whales on the way back. Almost booked it again for the next day but felt like it was impossible to top that trip. 10 out of 10

You can cancel or modify your booking up to 30 days before the trip date, free of charge. If you cancel or modify your booking later, or fail to show up, you'll forfeit 100% of what you've paid.
