Chum Fun Charters is Juneau's only shore fishing (land-based) charter! With them, you can forget about seasickness and weather-dependent trips. You'll enjoy your fishing adventure from a personal dock, targeting Salmon.
As there's no boat, the trip preparation goes a bit differently. Your guides, Michelle and Paul Turinsky will pick you up with their van at the Port of Juneau, at the base of Goldbelt Tram. They'll drive you 3 miles North, where you will fish in the Gastineau Channel (saltwater). When you get to the Alaskan Salmon Gear Shack, they will get your license and gear you up in rain tops, bottoms, and boots. After fishing is done, they will return you and your family and friends back to the Port of Juneau.
The fishing itself lasts for 2.5 hours, but there's more! The trip includes an intriguing 20-minute Salmon hatchery tour! Bring your snacks and drinks for the day. Your guides will cover fishing equipment.
Note that the cost of a fishing license is $25 per person and has to be paid in cash. Everyone over 16 years old needs one. Kids can fish only if they're over 7 years old. If your kids are younger, please call us. Starting this season, 2024, you will be expected to bring your printed fishing licenses.
Alaskan Salmon welcomes you every day from June till late September, rain or shine. We can and will fish under pretty much any weather conditions, and we provide rain gear (caps, bottoms, and boots). Spend an unforgettable day of fishing and try out a bit different way to reel in your trophy Salmon!

Michelle was quick to respond to all of my questions prior to our scheduled fishing date. Will, our fishing guide, was awesome! He was very patient, knowledgeable, and very helpful. He has a black belt in detangling fishing lines!! We caught 3 silver salmon! A fun day for all of us!!
Took the kids to do some salmon fishing. Michelle was great in keeping in contact before the trip and answering all our questions. The crew the day of was great in teaching, educating and helping us fish. It was super rainy (as it is most of the time) but the kids had a blast.

These guys were the best. Michelle was so kind and helpful with our large group. Our guides were so patient with all of our kids and taught them all how to fish. Everyone in our group caught a fish! BEST DAY EVER!
We had a great time. Caught so many fish we lost track of how many but at least 100. Great guides and help with casting, techniques, and more. Highly recommend and want to come back some time in the future.

Only issue was the fact that it poured the whole time we were there. We weren't aware that Juneau doesn't get much sunlight! Great guide service and equipment with tour of the hatchery.
