Grand Slam Charters - 30' Boat

Overseas Highway
Key Largo FL, United States

Grand Slam Charters invites you for a day of fishing out of Key Largo and into the productive waters of south Florida. The charter is operated by Captain Josh and a friendly and professional crew. They provide a first class service and take care of everything for you and your group of family and friends.

Captain Josh will take you fishing aboard a 30-foot Contender center console originally built in 1993, and restored in 2016. Powered by twin 200 HP Yamaha High Pressure Direct Injection engines, with a maximum cruising speed of 45 knots, the boat is super fast. It features only the best in navigation and fish finding technology, as well as the safety equipment like life jackets and a CPR-trained crew.

Your day on the water will be action packed with fighting massive game fish like Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Tuna, Wahoo, and King Mackerel. You can also target bottom dwellers by the edge such as a variety of Groupers and Snappers. And, finally, you can fish the patch reef for smaller species like Yellowtail Snapper, White Grunt, Hogfish, Blue Runner, and Sharks.

Grand Slam Charters promises a stress-free trip with all top of the line fishing gear provided. That includes rods, reels, tackle, baits, a fishing license, and the help of the first mate. Once the trip is over, they will clean and fillet your catch getting it ready for the freezer, so it’s a good idea to bring a large cooler in which to transport the fish home.

We enjoyed this fishing trip very much. Not only was it great fun but the additional service of cleaning the fish and recommending a fantastic restaurant where we ate our catch was much appreciated. The boat was nice and clean with stellar equipment.

I can remmend this for anyone looking for a great experience in the Key’s!

This is more of a “captain” story than a fishing story. Not that the fishing was not productive, but what stood out to me was the ability of Captain Josh to see, identify, and fish flotsam and jetsam holding fish, and to spot the frigates from impossible distances. I could check off a list of expectations met: getting started on time; speedy and comfortable arrival on station; gleaming new rods and reels, all of top quality; expert deployment of trolling lines; absolute confidence in safety (Captain Josh is an EMT); and quick, efficient rigging of baits, landing fish, and expert filleting, but I come back to his ability to find fish indicators.  If I had been fishing alone or with anyone else, I would have missed most of those opportunities Captain Josh was friendly and informative, and he brings a great knowledge of and love for the ocean and for fishing.  He takes care that his anglers get the first and best shot at hooked fish, and he offers patient encouragement during the fight.  I plan to go out again with Captain Josh, for the camaraderie as well as for the catch.  He’s a good guy.  I have found that if you love your job, you will excel at it, and Captain Josh is an excellent boat handler, guide, and source of information.  I recommend him highly.  You, or you and the guys, or you and the family, will have a great time.
