Black Dog Fishing Charters invites you to fish with them in the waters surrounding Jacksonville! Captain Nelson Van Liere's goal is to get you on the fish and you can expect plenty of tight lines and tons of action. Each trip is an adventure, but you'll have to see it to believe it!
Hop aboard the 'Black Dog 3', a spacious 30' Whitewater center console. Powered by twin 200 HP Yamaha 4-stroke engines, she gets you to the hottest spots quickly and safely.
Captain Nelson has perfect command of his navigational electronics and other professional accessories. Inside, you'll also find a portable toilet and a freshwater washdown. This vessel is the ideal choice for up to 5 anglers.
You'll cruise out of Morningstar Marina in Mayport and soon find yourself in the middle of a rod-bending action. Troll for King Mackerel and bottom fish the reefs and wrecks up to 25 miles out. If you are a die-hard angler, test the blue waters on the ledge up to 60 miles out. Here, you'll troll for Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Bonito, Tuna, and more.
All trips come inclusive with quality rods, reels, and tackle. You'll also catch live bait at the beginning of your trip when it's available. When you return to the shore, your captain will clean and fillet your catch for dinner later. Feel free to bring your favorite drinks and food.

My son wanted to catch a shark, Captain Nelson put us in a place where we could possibly find fish and shark. After a run in with a pod of spotted Atlantic dolphins, We had 2 possible sharks come off the hook, but then we had a solid run and it ended up, after a 30 min battle, we got the first color of what was about a 9 to 10ft Hammerhead. My 15yo son was living his dream in catching it and getting it to the boat. Would recommend this charter to anyone.
Had an amazing 6-hour ocean fishing trip with Captain Nelson. Our trip started with nearshore trolling and concluded with bottom fishing offshore - both experiences were excellent. Nelson's extensive knowledge of the local waters and his friendly nature truly enhanced the trip. We were also fortunate to observe an abundance of marine life, including lots of dolphins and a magnificent leatherback sea turtle. Everyone in our party had a great experience. Highly recommend for an unforgettable ocean fishing journey.
Captain Nelson is awesome!!! My family and went bottom fishing for the first time and we had a great time. My wife got sea sick but the captain made sure she was okay and gave her tips on how to combat sea sickness. We caught good ones but unfortunately couldn’t keep them since they were out of season. Captain Nelson was very informative and helpful with the whole trip. We’ll be booking again in the very near future with Black Dog charters.
I don't think a minute went by without a fish on the line. I had plenty of fish to take home as well as hooking onto others; snappers, grouper, shark and a handful of others. If we weren't getting lucky for our target species at one spot the captain would cruise on over to the next. Had a great time and would go out again.
