Sporting Wood Charters offers a unique fishing experience out of Deale, Maryland. They are conveniently located in picturesque Deale, just 25 minutes south of Annapolis and a short 45-minute drive from Washington D.C. and Baltimore. Full and half day fishing excursions are available from April through December.

Captain Joe Cox has a superbly maintained, meticulously clean, and safe vessel. It takes up to 30 guests and features safety equipment such as life jackets, flares, and a CPR-trained crew. This 45’ Chesapeake Bay boat was originally built in 1999 and restored in 2016. Powered by a 450 HP Cummins engine, with a maximum cruising speed of 20 knots, it is very reliable on the water.

The vessel features a toilet which is a huge plus when you take the whole family out; there are a GPS and a fishfinder that Capt. Joe will use to locate the best fishing spots, a set of outriggers for trolling, an icebox to keep the catch fresh, and a livewell for the live bait.

Depending on the season, Capt. Joe offers a full range of fishing techniques to include trolling, bottom fishing, chumming, and live bait. He and his experienced crew provide full services and assistance including all fishing licenses, top of the line rods and reels by Shimano and Penn, lures, and bait, and fish cleaning is available at the dock.

Fishing in Deale is good for inshore and offshore species with Striped Bass, Redfish, Black Drum, Bluefish, Cobia, Crabs, White Perch, Spanish Mackerel, and Whiting being available. The best time to catch Rockfish is November through December.

Hop aboard and Sporting Wood Charters will provide a day full of fun, excitement, and fishing in Maryland!

Note: the meeting location for the trips between June 1 - August 31 is CSI marina, 7364 Edgewood rd Annapolis md 21403
