Captain Don Johnson is at the helm of Hot Pursuit Charter Fishing. He’s been fishing the Chesapeake Bay since he was 10 years old and turned this passion for angling into a career as a captain in 2003. Whether you’re a brand new angler or want to test your skills against these famous waters, Capt. Don has something to offer every guest.
You’ll be exploring the bay on a 46’ Markley custom fishing vessel, capable of accommodating up to 32 guests. She’s powered by twin 450 HP Cummins engines that, paired with quality electronics, will get you to the hottest fishing spots in no time. There is plenty of room to spread out as your vessel has an upper-level bridge where you can relax and enjoy the view as you wait to reel 'em in!
Capt. Don uses a variety of techniques, including trolling, chumming, jigging, or bottom fishing. Rockfish is the primary target from May 1-July 31 and Sept 1 - December 10. You can also catch Perch, Spot, Bluefish, and Spanish Mackerel during the summer months. Don’t worry if you’re a new angler – your captain will be on hand to show you the best techniques.
Capt. Don provides you with everything you will need, bait, tackle, and license are all included. He offers flexible starting times, so feel free to adjust the start time to your liking. For the remainder of the 2026 season we will be fishing from Anchor Yacht Basin 1048 Turkey Point Rd. Edgewater, Md. This is a great location close to Annapolis, Md.

Outside of limiting out on Stripers, it was so enjoyable fishing alongside Captain Don and his lovely mate Madie. A tried-and-true Chesapeake fishing legend. His knowledge of the waters and Madie's attention on deck while bringing fish in just made the day for us. Cindy and I have not been back out on the bay since the early 80s, so we were looking forward to this trip with great anticipation. We were not disappointed. Let me terminate by saying. If the opportunity comes your way for a day on the Chesapeake, Contact Captain Don Johnson. You will not be disappointed. Note: Bring a nice-sized cooler to take home all the fish you will catch

Great trip out of Edgewater at Turkey Point Island. 5 hour bay fishing with agrrt Captain and 1st Mate! Husband and wife team, very pleasant and motivated. Great boat with ample space, clean head and shaded areas. We must have hooked over 30 bluefish, though a few jumped the hook. Lots of filets for grilling! Had a blast... alredy talking abot bookng them for stripe season. Definitey recommend!
We had an absolutely amazing fishing trip! From start to finish, the crew made the experience smooth and enjoyable with excellent communication. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to make sure everyone was comfortable and having a great time. We caught plenty of fish, which made the trip even more exciting! Everything was well-organized, and you could tell the crew truly cared about making it a memorable outing. Highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for a fun and successful day on the water!

You can cancel or modify your booking up to 7 days before the trip date, free of charge. If you cancel or modify your booking later, or fail to show up, you'll forfeit 100% of what you've paid.
