Outer Banks Outdoors offers a variety of trips out of Wanchese, North Carolina, from inshore fishing in the sound to unlimited adventures offshore. Captain Ches Tyson grew up fishing the Outer Banks and is ready to put his lifetime of experience to work for you. From top to bottom, inshore to offshore, he provides a fully customized experience.
Step aboard a 37' restored Topaz powered by twin 380 HP QSB Cummins engines. This vessel will enhance your capabilities to the fullest, featuring outriggers, a live bait well, a fishfinder, and a toilet onboard. There's room for up to six passengers.
While fishing the Outer Banks with Capt. Ches, you will have your choice of inshore, nearshore, and offshore fishing. A half-day trip allows you to explore the sound and inlet for Flounder, Bluefish, Red Drum, or even Cobia and Striped bass when conditions are right.
Adding a couple more hours to your trip gives you the choice to venture further into the ocean, where you can fish the towers and wrecks.
On the other hand, a full-day trip has no boundaries—spend the day fishing nearshore or head out into the ocean in search of Amber Jack, Tile Fish, Trigger Fish, Spanish Mackerel, and Mahi Mahi.
Outer Banks Outdoors provides a license, bait, and Penn fishing gear. Trips run from February to November.

My husband and I had an absolutely AMAZING time fishing with Capt. Ches Tyson! From the moment we got on the boat, he made us feel comfortable and made sure we had an incredible experience. He was extremely knowledgeable, patient, friendly, and worked hard to put us on the fish. You can tell Capt. Ches truly enjoys what he does, and it made the entire trip that much more enjoyable. We had such a great time together, caught some fish, laughed a lot, and made memories that we’ll be talking about for a long time! If you’re looking for an awesome fishing experience, I HIGHLY recommend booking with Capt. Ches Tyson. We had a fantastic trip and will absolutely be back! Thank you, Capt. Had an awesome day being my first time out ocean fishing. Crew was very friendly, accommodating and patient. Captain tried to get us on bigger fish while trolling but took the hand mother nature dealt us. Between the mackerel and blue fish caught was 30 pounds total, it's better than being skunked. Fishing back home I know all about those kinda days. As a fisherman it's always more exciting to catch bigger fish but when the bites at what it is you take what you get. I had an amazing time. And would recommend these folks to anybody that want to do some fishing. I will definitely go again.
This was our second year going out on the Salt Grit and both years have been wonderful! We caught about 10 fish and are looking forward to a Sea Bass and assorted fish dinner tonight. We are a family of 4 and they were great for my preteen and teenager (the serious fisherman). The boat is very comfortable with covered seating. Just bring your food, drinks, sunscreen, and a good attitude. We hope you enjoy it ad much as we did!
Great trip with Outer Banks Outdoors! Captain Ches and First Mate Jesse got us on the fish right away. We were on fish the entire 6 hours. Very nice boat, great crew, and a lot of fun. Would definitely recommend them!
Had a great experience this morning! The group included 4 kids (7-13) and they were thrilled to reel in a few fish, see some dolphins and catch dinner. We caught 2 mackerel and about 16 blues. Thanks for answering all our questions and making this a great trip! We will totally book again on Salt Grit!

Ches received a lifetime of hunting and fishing knowledge from his father. He always had a boat to fish out of ever since he was a little boy. Capt. Ches has been guiding charters on the Outer Banks since 2006.
