Louisiana on the Fly takes you fishing around the rich Louisiana delta in search of Redfish, and Speckled Trout. These waters fish well throughout the year, and Captain Shane has the experience and skills to make the most out of your day out.
You will be fishing around the Myrtle Grove and Lafitte area, well-known for its Redfish population. We really recommend catch and release to help preserve the redfish population, but clients are allowed to keep fish.
The Myrtle Grove area produces nice fish year-round. In the summertime, you will head out in the early morning to get the fish before the heat. Winter months are productive as well. There are schools of big Red you can get around the shallow waters. And, the scenery is striking. So you better get your camera ready when fishing with Capt. Shane.
Capt. Shane has a deep understanding of the local fisheries. He’s been fishing from an early age and has competed in a number of tournaments at the national level. And if you’re a novice angler, you won’t be after the captain briefs you on the techniques.
The boat is a 2022 Spyder Vapor. It drafts in only seven inches of water, and can get back where the big girls roam. The boat features a set of navigational electronics, as well as an ice box, a live bait well, and safety gear.
Louisiana on the Fly now accepts major credit cards. You’ll find all the tackle and gear you need on board. At the end of the trip, Capt. Shane will clean your catch for you.
Capt. Shane also films all his trips for his YouTube channel, this means you'll be able to re-watch your exciting fishing adventure whenever you want!
So grab your favorite snacks and drinks, a camera, sunglasses, a cap, and sunscreen, then come aboard for a trip to remember. It’s a ride you’re sure to enjoy!

Captian Shane is an excellent guide and all around top notch angler. He waa able to get us into big reds, including catching & netting a nice sized one out of season. If you love fly fishing. this is your guide.

Thank you for the charter, Mr. Mike. Can't wait to go again!

Got tired of getting skunked chasing stripers in the New Jersey surf so flew down to New Orleans for the long weekend last minute and booked a trip with Shane. It was my first time in New Orleans and my goal was to catch a big ‘ole bull red. With his knowledge of the water and local fishery, Shane was more than up to the task. Left the dock at 6:30 on a pristine morning and had a tight line before 7:00… 38” Bull Red on the first cast! Not bad for my first redfish. We fished a variety of spots throughout the day and pulled in over three dozen speckled and white trout (many of which were keepers, but tossed back to fight another day) and three bull reds. Can’t thank Shane enough for a great day and outing! I definitely will be back to try and and get a bull on the fly. Til’ then I’ll be following along his fishing journeys and living vicariously through his YouTube channel.

It was an awesome trip. Whenever you get ready to come back, let me know, and I'll block a couple of days off. We can fly, y, y, y, y, y, y, till we die, i, i, one day and spin the next, or fly both, or whatever. Maybe next time, the quarter won't claim your partner. 😉
My adult daughter and I had the best Father/Daughter Fishing weekend with Capt Shane York (GrippingLipsFishing). Capt Shane was very polite, friendly, and most importantly, extremely knowledgeable in fishing the area out of Myrtle Grove Marina in Port Sulphur, and getting us on 12 huge bull reds, a boat load of trout, and a myriad of other species……while fighting windy weather!!! If we stopped catching fish for 5 minutes of so, he would move us to another spot where we would catch fish…that pattern continued during the whole two day trip, even when potential stormy weather keep everyone else off the water we went out and knocked them dead before racing back to the marina and avoiding the worst of the incoming weather. I’ve done inshore fishing with guides 40-50 times in the last 40 years and Capt Shane is one of the best, that I will definitely be going to to. Seriously, do yourself a favor and go fishing with Capt Shane York, Gripping Lips Fishing. I don’t normally write reviews like this, but Capt Shane’s efforts to make our trip the best, I felt like he deserved a truthful review that I’ll stand behind.

Thank you for the awesome review, Mr Larry! It was a lot of fun. I loved watching y'alls faces when a big redfish was on. Y'all can come back any time you want. Keep in touch and I'll let Y'all know when the bite is on!
Couldn’t have asked for a better time out on the water with a captain!!!! Cpt. Shane not only put us on the fish all day long but made us feel comfortable at home while on board with him. I felt as if we were fishing with a long time friend and from that point on the day only got better! Even with spotty weather and “not perfect” conditions, Shane put us on the fish, taught us about the area, and educated us on the wildlife all along the trip! Cpt. Shane is a persistent captain and will do everything in his power (even talk to the fish for you 😂) to put you on the bite and make sure you get your moneys worth! With that being said go book your charter now and be ready to have some fun!!! P.s go check out his YouTube channel “ClearVisionCharters” like and subscribe like I did, it gives a great glimpse of what to expect on your trip plus the content is very enjoyable!

Thank you, Cody! It was a blast. I'm glad we are going again, tomorrow, and again soon when the weather warms up! Thank you so much for the awesome review!
Hello, my name is Capt. Shane and I own Gripping Lips Guide Service. We mostly fish the waters south of the New Orleans area. This includes Myrtle Grove, Lafitte, the Four Bayou area, and Grand Isle. We specialize in inshore fishing for giant Redfish and Speckled Trout. Shallow-water sight fishing is our specialty, and we excel in that type of fishing. The Spyder Vapor drafts in 7 inches of water. If fly fishing is your thing, this is the charter for you.
