Capt. Jason will take you fishing where the fish are. The action with StrikeZone Fishing Charters takes place aboard a brand new 29ft Hydro.
She is powered by a 300 hp suzuki engine. Onboard, you will find a large cockpit which is perfect for four anglers, as well as the hardtop to ensure you stay dry and warm. The vessel is fitted with Simrad NSS16 electronics and features a livewell, rod holders for up to fourteen outfits, as well as enough storage for the fish you catch. There is also an electric flush toilet onboard.
These waters are blessed with a variety of fish. During summer you can get Striped and Blue Marlin using trolling lures or live bait. Then, if you want to take home a fish dinner, you can go fishing for Snapper and get to do bottom fishing. Of course, Kingfish is a big thing here and put up a nice fight. If you're up for some casual fishing, you'll be jigging, bait fishing, slow jigging, and softbaiting.
Capt. Jason is great at explaining how fishing works and will be more than happy to brief you about the how-tos to get you some nice fish. You will get ice and bait, and tackle is provided within the charter fare. You should pack food and drinks. Put on comfortable clothes, sunglasses, and a camera.

Full Day Trip - Mixed Species on June 12, 2024 • 2 adultsHad a great day out with strike zone charters, Jason was a very experienced captain and despite the slow start to the morning and not a lot of current moving through managed to land a few good snapper. Before moving out to some more reefs to try our luck on some kingfish. Managed a few quality fish on the jigs. Would highly recommend a day out with Jason. We will definitely be back.

Libero knows how to fish! This was a great day with Libero and his stunning wife Sonia. 1st drop boom with a big kingfish, another one hooked and dropped then a barracouta. Off to the islands then produced multiple snapper, pink maomao and even a squid! An awesome day and nice memories made with these guys. Hope to see Libero and Sonia again one day..

Julian and his sons had lady luck on there side this trip with great conditions and some beautiful fish coming aboard. They all caught fish and some big ones too! The lads were super chilled onboard which always helps when catching fish and i hope to see them again.
Jason went the extra mile by catching live bait overnight before our trip and doing everything possible to get us a great catch - and a super guy to boot. A very enjoyable morning on the water. I would book again without hesitation.
Amanda and her son Harry were a delight to have onboard. I was so disappointed that the fish were off the bite for them. Despite fishing through the night to secure livebaits for our trip the kingfish had there mouths firmly shut, after hours off fishing usually productive spots we called it one of those days. If you are ever up this way again Amanda be sure to be in contact, i will get Harry out for another crack at a heavily discounted rate. All the best. Capt Jason

Jason (Strikezone) is a fantastic guide. This was our second time king fishing in Tairua and it was amazing. Beautiful fish, lots of action, incredible scenery, enjoyable conversations and a very comfy boat with good gear
I loved having Margot and Paul back onboard after 6 years. Catching livwbait was hard qork and time consuming but it was well worth the effort as the kingfish were on fire landing multiple big fish and getting busted off on several others, very exciting fishing indeed! Hope to see Margot and Paul again soon..

Capt. Jason has been fishing since his earliest days. The fishing community respects him and he knows a great deal about the local fisheries and has been a regular reporter on Coromandel FM radio for many years.His skills and experience will be to your advantage when fishing with StrikeZone Charters. Jason has landed some really enviable catches throughout the years, including a Kingfish of almost 40 kg, solo Marlin. Jason is also the first angler to land a Broadbill Swordfish for the local fishing club. If you're looking for someone who knows about what's biting at what time of the year, Jason is your guy. When you go fishing with Jason, you will also get the chance to learn some new fishing techniques and Jason also knows a great deal about the history of the local area.
