Fishing in Palm Coast

Somewhat hidden in St. Augustine’s shadow, Palm Beach Fishing Charters are sometimes unfairly underestimated. However, it only takes one visit to fall in love with the world-class fishery hidden in the local marshlands. Add to this the thrilling action at the Continental Shelf and you’ll be hooked on this town for good!

Here, anglers staying in the inshore waters will typically target the popular Redfish. However, other exciting species such as Trout, Tarpon, and Flounder, also call these rich waters home. Alternatively, you can hook Grouper, Snapper, and Kingfish at the reefs or head offshore and battle beasts such as Marlin, Sailfish, and Tuna.

Productive fishing spots are dotted along this town’s section of the Intracoastal Waterway. This means that on half day trips, you’ll be able to get to a great inshore spot within minutes of leaving the dock. And although you can extend your inshore trip to a full day, these packages are typically reserved for nearshore and offshore adventures.

While Palm Coast doesn’t have a large marina where all the charter boats stay docked together, the city still has a variety of vessels available to visitors. Bing’s Landing, a park on the Intracoastal Waterway, serves as the main launching point for both inshore and offshore charters. This is a great spot to start your search at.

Rules & Regulations

Any angler fishing on their own over the age of 16 will need to get a fishing license before wetting their line. The easiest way to get one is online, where you can also look up the local bag limits for your target. If you’re fishing with a licensed charter, however, both the licenses and all the relevant information will be provided by the captain.

Palm Coast Fishing Seasons

January

The water is perfect for sight casting this time of year, but it might get chilly while you’re looking to hook up some Redfish. It’s a good idea to dress in layers.

February

Anglers looking to fish the reefs in February will have Wahoo as their main target, along with some Cobia and a rare Kingfish. The waters inshore are still clear.

March

Spring is coming to Palm Coast, but not much is changing fishing-wise. It’s still a good time to fish either inshore or on the reefs further out.

April

April sees an increased presence of Mahi Mahi in the offshore waters, same goes for Blue Marlin. Things are heating up, and will continue to do so in the following months.

May

This time of year provides anglers with some of the best weather for inshore fishing. Expect to go after lots of Reds, Trout, Jacks, and more besides.

June

June is when Marlin fishing really gets serious. Head out offshore and you’ll also find Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, and Amberjack, all ready to rise to the occasion.

July

A good alternative to deep sea fishing in summer is going Tarpon fishing. That’s the true test of an angler’s skill, but also a very exciting way to spend a day.

August

The weather can get very hot in August, so it’s advisable you go fishing as early as possible. Inshore or offshore, it’s completely up to you.

September

Summer might be long gone, but the fishing is still on fire! It’s an especially good time to go after Billfish, so stock up on ballyhoo and head out there.

October

The weather is seriously cooling down, opening up the doors for some long-awaited sight casting for Reds. Whether you prefer fly or conventional gear, do try it out.

November

Winter setting in means Blackfin Tuna fishing is back on the menu. You can also look forward to a good Kingfish and Wahoo bite to boot!

December

The year is drawing to a close, and in these waters that just means everybody’s doing sight casting in the backcountry. You ain’t done nothing if you haven’t caught a Red!
