Fishing in Oshkosh

Fishing in Oshkosh, WI is inevitable if you want to explore the Badger’s state outdoors. Surrounded by hiking trails, rivers, and most importantly, the best inland fishing hot spots, Oshkosh is a freshwater haven. You can target fish any time of year and there’s always a chance you’ll catch something tasty, since the area boasts high numbers of various Panfish.

If you’re after big fish and really want to feel the weight as you’re pulling, you can target Northern Pike and Musky. Bass fishing is becoming more popular over the years and you can choose between Largemouth and Smallmouth. Most anglers go fishing at Green Lake for Walleye – not because of their size, but because of their taste and the great rod-bending action they provide.

The angling action on Green Lake never stops. Even in winter,  you can go ice fishing for Trout and Yellow Perch. But taking a trip in late spring and summer is still the best choice. There’s more fish to target, they’re more active, and you’ll also find more guides ready to assist you. You can choose between half day and full day trips, depending on what you want to catch and how much you enjoy being on the water.

Oshkosh is nestled between two great fishing destinations: Lake Winnebago in the east and Lake Butte des Morts in the west. All it takes is a 40-minute drive and you’ll find yourself at Green Lake, Wisconsin’s deepest inland lake. Thanks to the airport, this charming city is very accessible even if you’re coming from out of town.

Experience Wisconsin’s freshwater scene at its finest and come fishing in Oshkosh.
