Fishing in Point Loma

Point Loma fishing charters offer some of the best-tailored angling experiences out of San Diego. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing trip in the bay or a rod-bending offshore adventure, you’ll be able to find exactly what you’re looking for!

Point Loma has access to the deep Pacific waters as well as the San Diego Bay. In the bay, you’ll be able to target the likes of California Corbina, White Seabass, Calico Bass, and Halibut. While offshore, you’ll encounter larger pelagic species such as Yellowfin and Bluefin Tuna, Blue Marlin, Mahi Mahi, and Swordfish.

Point Loma fishing charters offer a wide range of options that cater to all levels of experience. Half day trips typically last up to six hours and are perfect for beginners and families with children. Full day trips can take you fishing offshore, lasting anywhere from 8–10 hours. Extended day and multi-day trips are reserved for the most die-hard anglers, looking to go even further out and put their skills to the test.

Shorter trips will usually see you fishing within the San Diego Bay, while longer trips will take you further out to the pelagic grounds. Many charters offer island fishing excursions where you can explore San Clemente and Catalina Islands. You can even venture out to Mexican waters and fish around the Coronado Islands. This place truly is an angling paradise!

Rules & Regulations

All anglers above the age of 16 must purchase a valid CA fishing license. If you’re fishing from an ocean pier, you don’t need a license, however, this doesn’t include inland islands and docks. Please not that there are also bag limits for certain species. If you’re not sure, it’s always a good idea to ask a guide or licensing agent for more information.
