Frequently Asked Questions about Fishing Charters in Bimini

According to customer reviews, Captainctours, Te'vaughn Adventures Charter, and Yellowtail Charters are some of the most popular fishing charters in Bimini. Full list of top fishing charters in Bimini.

The average price for a private 4 hour Bimini fishing trip is $847, while an 8 hour private trip will cost you $1,502 based on prices on FishingBooker.com.

Captainctours, Te'vaughn Adventures Charter, and Yellowtail Charters all received great reviews from families who booked fishing trips in Bimini.

The most popular fish species you can target are Great Barracuda, Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), and Yellowtail Snapper. Top fishing techniques include Deep Sea Fishing, Light Tackle, and Trolling. Offshore fishing, reef fishing, and inshore fishing are commonly offered by local guides.

If you’d like to experience the fantastic fishing the Bahamas has to offer, but want to stay within a 50-mile radius from Miami, Bimini is the place to go. The islands might be small, but the fish swimming around them are trophy-sized. That’s why there are plenty of Bimini fishing charters ready to take you to your next greatest catch.

This destination is known for its outstanding deep sea fishing and, as such, sports the title of the “Sportfishing Capital of the World.” With the Gulf Stream a stone’s throw away, these gorgeous waters are the playground of Blue and White Marlin, Tuna, Mahi Mahi, and Wahoo. The islands are actually coral atolls, which translates to premier action for Yellowtail and Mutton Snapper, Black Grouper, Sharks, Amberjack, and other beautiful fish.

Anglers who prefer to stay in shallow waters can enjoy superb fly fishing opportunities. These crystal clear waters are brimming with Bonefish and Permit. There’s also excellent Tarpon action for you to look forward to in the summer months. Whenever you come to these sandy flats, you’ll find something to your liking.

When it comes to the types of trips on offer, the sky’s the limit. Most expeditions depart from US soil, and it’s a good idea to book a full day or an extended day trip to Bahaman waters. If you’re a passionate game fish chaser, there are multiday adventures that set out directly from the Bimini Islands. Otherwise, you can find a wide variety of Bimini fishing charters moving out from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, and Key Biscayne.

Rules & Regulations

Fishing with a charter means you don’t have to worry about fishing licenses or equipment – everything is included in the price. Your guide will let you know about daily limits and regulations you need to respect, so you can just relax and enjoy.

January

Wahoo is the main target in January, though Snapper and Grouper are this month’s staples as well. On the flats, Bonefish are hungry and will attack your fly with abandon, so get ready to practice your reflexes.

February

While the weather is still chilly, Mangrove and Lane Snapper are consistent, as well as Hogfish and various Grouper species. Yellowtail Snapper start appearing in late February, too.

March

Yellowtail Snapper are in full swing. Marlin grow in numbers as March draws to a close, which is what deep sea anglers have been waiting for. Permit enter with full force, while Amberjack also start appearing in decent numbers around the reefs.

April

Mahi Mahi are a-coming, with big specimens coming in first. This means more delicious fish fillets than you can eat in one sitting. Billfish are very active, as well as reef residents like Snapper and Grouper species.

May

It’s an excellent time to go after a monster Marlin or maybe set your sights on a glorious Yellowfin Tuna. Mahi Mahi are still coming in, though they tend to be smaller as the months go on. On the flats, Tarpon are all the craze!

June

Snapper and Grouper are the dependable fish that anglers rely upon this time of year. The tourist season is in full swing, so why not  spend some time relaxing on the beach before the fall fishing rush starts? You’ll find solid Mahi Mahi swimming around.

July

You can do just about anything in July, but bear in mind it can get hot on the water. Flats fishing is on fire with Tarpon, Permit, and Bonefish all there for the taking. This is the month to go spearfishing, as the reef-dwelling species are consistent during this period.

August

There’s no limit to what you can target in the hottest month of the year. Go after Amberjack while they’re in peak season, but if you don’t have the time, don’t worry, you can still target them until the end of the year.

September

Wahoo are slowly returning to  Bimini’s waters in September, and in great numbers. King Mackerel also start appearing during early fall, and reef fishing for Grouper and Snapper is excellent.

October

Massive Wahoo make an appearance as the weather gets colder, so get that braided line ready – they’re quite the biters. Mutton and Lane Snapper, Black Grouper, and other species are good catches for the fall angler.

November

As the fall progresses, Wahoo in Bimini are only getting bigger. Sharks and Snappers are still out there in good numbers and, if you’re craving some Billfish action, Sailfish are around.

December

December is the month where Bonefish take precedence, as it’s one of the few species that’s always in season. Wahoo are at their biggest now, so if you’re looking for trophy catches, this is the time to act!

I fish a lot and the one thing I would recommend is to bring some ice to ice down your catch and keep it fresh. Its not so bad to not have ice on a 4 hour charter but I would definitely recommend bringing ice for the fish if you do a whole day charter.

Many of the charters are overpriced. $6-700 is fair for half day. $800 and up is ludicrous. If people stop overpaying the prices will moderate.

The only problem is we visited in early June which was sort of the rainy period in the Bahamas. I highly recommend the fishing there but I would go outside of May/June.

The water gets deep closer to shore than you think. It is a short trip to deep water, a 4 hour trip is efficient. Reel that fish in quick, sharks will snag your fish before you know it.

The inshore reef fishing, bonefish on a fly rod and snapper with a bait caster, was a great experience. So many types of fish, but not enough time to catch them. There is also so much more to the trip than just fishing. The ecology of the area is incredible, sharks, rays tarpon, barracuda, turtles.. Not to mention the most beautiful water I've ever seen, and I have fished in many places in the world. My fun meter was pegged.

Spend a little extra and go for a bigger boat. We had a 55 foot boat for 6 of us and I'm glad we went bigger instead of less expensive

We booked a 4 hour trip with Captain Ted and enjoyed the trip greatly. The fishing was not great that day but Captain Ted made every effort to move the boat and get us on the fish. Captain Ted gave us a brief tour along the way and pointed out many things we would never have known without his knowledge!! We were able to squeeze in a quick snorkel experience with some turtles too!! Would highly recommend Captain Ted.

The first two hours saw no action but once Captain Ryan located signs of schooling the fun began. Ryan gets just as excited as guests when he gets on fish and man did we have a lot of excitement. Crew, Dre and William, rounded out support to ensure we got the most out of the good fortune. We encountered schools of skipjack, yellowfin and blackfin tuna and mahi. Great fun!

The overall feeling is that it takes nearly two hours to go back and forth by boat. The fish caught in the sea were not as big as expected. 4 hours between 8:00 and 12:00 is not meant to include round trip. To be honest, we have returned to our destination before we have experienced the fun of sea fishing.BTW The captain is very kind and friendly

Captain Ted was the BEST! There were five people on our group which consisted of myself, my husband, our twelve year old son, and our family friends. We were able to snorkel with turtles, play on our own private beach, and catch multiple species of fish. Throughout the trip Captain Ted went above and beyond to meet our personal desires and keep us safe. We highly recommend Captain Ted to anyone who would like to experience The Bahamas.

We had an amazing time on this fishing boat. We were able to bring along out 2yr old and our 10 month old baby which is a plus for us because we love to take our kids on these experiences and most people wonโ€™t let kids on board! We got to battle some fish and get them on the boat, laugh and share stories with the first mate and enjoy the ocean and its beauty all as a family!

Excellent day with a lot packed into 4 hours. Across five or six different species, caught over a dozen small fish. Proceeded to head to swim with sea turtles and another snorkeling area with hundreds of fish to view. Finally, visited a picturesque beach near Rose Island. CPT Ted was informative, attentive, and made the trip well worth it.
