Head an additional 30 miles out and you'll reach San Clemente Island, a haven for Yellowtail Amberjack. Lastly, if you want to fish the open waters, numerous honey holes lie all the way up to 60 miles from the mainland, offering trophy-sized fish.

	If you're planning on fishing near Catalina Island or beyond, your best bet is to set aside enough time for a full day or extended full day trip. This way, you'll account for travel time and give yourself your best shot at a trophy! Inshore fishing happens within 10 miles of shore and a half day trip provides a great introduction to the waters.

	There are two main starting points in Long Beach: Long Beach Shoreline Marina and Alamitos Bay Marina. The former departs from downtown Long Beach, whereas the latter is located south of downtown, towards Seal Beach.
