Walleye fishing in Wisconsin, United States draws anglers from near and far. These cautious game fish fight hard, taste great, and love low light. Big lakes, wide rivers, and clean flowages make Wisconsin a top place to target them.

Guides use simple, proven tactics. Jigging means lifting a small weighted lure near the bottom. Trolling pulls crankbaits or spinners behind the boat to cover water. Slip bobber rigs suspend live bait at a steady depth. At dawn, dusk, and cloudy days, casting along breaks and weed edges often shines.

Charter trips are relaxed, focused, and beginner friendly. Captains provide rods, reels, tackle, and bait, and show you how everything works. Bring a valid fishing license, weather‑ready layers, soft‑soled shoes, snacks, and polarized sunglasses. Expect steady coaching, safe boat handling, and a clean fish box if you keep fish.

Across the state, you will find strong Walleye water. Green Bay and the Door Peninsula offer big water with trophy potential. The Lake Winnebago system and the Wisconsin River flowages are classic producers. The Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers hold current‑loving fish and year‑round structure. In the Northwoods, clear lakes and stained reservoirs give great spring and fall action.

Before you go, check the latest Wisconsin fishing rules. Confirm license needs, open seasons, harvest limits, and any special regulations for your lake or river. Your captain can help explain the basics, but you are responsible for following local laws.

    great trip! I’ll be back

Great trip. Pat is very knowledgeable about walleye fishing. Put us on fish. it was windy and the bite was slow but caught the limit with the biggest at 28 1/2 inches long which we released.

    beyond expectations

Our family of four was just looking to fish for anything but panfish, we ended up catching walleye all morning. Pat put us on the fish right away, including an exciting 28” walleye catch for my son. The ones we kept, Pat filleted and packed in ice and gave us his recommendation for grilling them up, which we did the same day. It was such a fun experience!

    Definitely recommend

Had a wonderful time fishing! There was much laughter, many fish, and excellent advice shared. It was very kind of him to provide information to other fishermen about where to locate perch and walleye. He' a truly great individual. We clearly enjoyed our fishing experience with him and his first mate, Lextin!
