Big Dog Fishing Charters is a locally-run guide service offering exciting adventures in the shallow waters of Louisiana’s Lafitte Basin. Explore the local saltwater lakes, flats, bays, and backwaters in search of the area’s top gamefish. Bring your friends, your family, or just yourself and get ready to catch a ton of fish!

Captain David Bourgeois is the owner of the business and runs many of the trips himself. He operates several boats in the area and can’t run them all at once, though, so he has gathered together a team of the area’s best guides. It may not be Capt. David who takes you out, but he guarantees it will be someone who really knows their stuff.

You will heading out on a 23’ bay boat which has been custom-built to explore these winding waters without running aground. The vessel was built in 2012 and has been regularly maintained ever since to keep her in top working order. She can carry 4 guests in comfort and cruises at speed in open water, thanks to her 250 HP Mercury engine.

Anglers of any age or experience level are warmly welcome aboard. Whether you’re out to catch your first fish or you’re chasing your personal best after a lifetime of big hookups, the captain will work hard to give you an unforgettable day on the water. 

You will be using quality light tackle and a selection of lures to bring in anything from Redfish and Trout to Flounder and Sheepshead. All necessary equipment is provided free of charge. The only thing you need to bring is a fishing license and a cooler to pack all your fish in at the end of the day. There’s going to be a lot of it!
