We offers inland saltwater adventures out of Barataria / Lafitte, Louisiana, just a short 45 minute drive from New Orleans. Explore the beautiful and abundant marshes and bays. Have fun with your family and friends fishing with the locals like the locals.

The area’s beautiful bayous and the Barataria Basin offer some of the most amazing fishing in the South. The waters are home to Redfish, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, Flounder, Sheepshead, Bass, and many more.

Big Dog Fishing Charters caters to your specific needs and wishes whether it’s your first time on the water or you’re an experienced angler. Your captain will guide you through the basics before you make your first cast. As well as that, he will assist you throughout the adventure.

All the charters are private and usually depart at a safe light. Morning trips typically last approx. 6.5 hours, which allows you plenty of time to master the cast and make a great catch possible. Afternoon trips last approx. 5 hours.

You will be fishing aboard 21-24’ vessels with outboard engines that will power you and three fishing buddies to the hottest grounds in the area. As well as that, the modern navigational and fish-finding electronics will save you time while searching for fish.

All trips come with gear, tackle, bait, and lures. When you’re done fishing, the captain will clean and bag the catch for you. All you have to do is purchase fishing licenses, grab some food and drinks, and hop on board!

Afternoon trip departs approx. 2:00 p.m. and returns before dark. During winter months the starting time is based upon the sunset, you'll depart around 4-5 hours before dusk. Enjoy an exciting afternoon in the Lafitte Basin, fishing for Red and Black Drum, Flounder, Trout, and more inshore favorites.

Enjoy the morning bite and target Redfish, Speckled Trout, Drum, Flounder, and more exciting species. This trip will begin approximately 15 minutes before sunrise. However, the departure time can be flexible to fit your schedule. Charter lasts approximately 6+ hours. We are typically fishing within 10 - 25 minutes of leaving our dock. We usually return to our private dock by 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. 4 people maximum per boat plus the captain. If lodging with Us we will pick up at YOUR DOCK
