Our captains are passionate about sharing their love for light tackle bottom fishing. Our style of fishing is the best and only way to catch some of the best eating fish in Hawaii. Captain Kevin has been bottom fishing for 10 years and enjoys helping teach young kids how to fish. On Kevin’s days off, you’ll find him fishing for his family and neighbors. He loves to cook and loves to share his recipes with everyone who come aboard. Captain Kihe was born in raised here Kona and has been fishing in the area since he was a young kid. He has gathered knowledge from 10 generations and loves to share his passion of Hawaiian culture like the language, stories of the old, and of course the beauty of the islands and surroundings of the Moana (ocean).

Great family fishing adventure!
If you’re visiting the Big Island and your family likes to fish, Ocean Blue Kona is the way to go! Kevin, the Captain communicates very well before and during the trip, is friendly, knowledgeable, professional and most importantly, knows where the fish are! His first mate, Mahina, was a great addition to the trip! Also polite, professional and helpful. I recommend the four hour triip. Easily one of the best excursions
I also left a TripAdvisor review, as this team is worth every comment. Frankly, the Captain (Kevin) is a great person and surrounds himself with professionals that know what they are doing. My family and I spent half the day fishing and having a great time. (We all caught fish by the way🔥💯🐟🐠🎣) I would recommend for families, couples, or friends. Worth every penny. These kind of memories are priceless. Don’t take it from me, try it for yourself!

We have a enclosed bathroom with a electric Marine toilet
we have what is called a fighting lean
What’s included in the trip price
We mostly use squid for our bate it works the best for us. we do use live bate somtimes but not always
we may run hi speed Luers to and from the spot
We like to clean the fish on the boat some times we have to finish at wash down if we catch fish right before coming in. we will clean / fillet your fish for you so it is all ready for you to enjoy
we provide assorted chips jerky cliff bars these shacks are free for our guests
we provide bottled water and a mix of juice sodas bubbly water
15%-20% tips are customary for Hawaii services (of course tipping is at customer’s discretion). We are a small family owned business so first mate is often available but not guaranteed for every trip, especially if booked last minute.
How cancellations work
Free cancellation up to 1 day prior to trip
You can cancel or modify your booking up to 1 day before the trip date, free of charge. If you cancel or modify your booking later, or fail to show up, you'll forfeit 100% of what you've paid.
