Capt John’s Fin-tastic Charters provides a fun, friendly, and professional atmosphere as you explore the rich inshore waters of Louisiana or the Gulf of Mexico. Captain John Chauvin has fished the Louisiana saltwater for over 30 years and specializes in inshore and coastal fishing. From the inshore marsh and bays to the coastal beaches and reefs, he'll show you all the best fishing grounds, helping you fill the boat. 
The comfortable and stable Calcutta 263 boat has plenty of room and was specifically built for fishing from the shallow flats to the depths of offshore rigs. Everything you need for a productive day will be waiting on board, including rods, reels, and tackle, and plenty of live bait. Up to 6 guests are welcome aboard to make yourselves at home, as you settle in for a productive day of fishing. 

Get ready to battle it out with some of Louisiana's finest, as you go bottom fishing around the bays and bayous. Test your skills and fill the boat with delicious Speckled Trout, Redfish, Flounder, Snapper, Cobia, or any other fish that's in season, and you're sure to head home with a real treat. 

At the end of your trip, the captain will professionally clean, fillet, and bag your catch, so you're good to cook your catch up right away. Let the joys of a fun-filled day of fishing live long into the night as you savor the taste of success with a delicious meal. 

All you need to do before coming aboard is grab our LA saltwater fishing license, and you can contact Capt. John, after booking, to find out how to do this. Other than that, just dress to protect against the elements, bring your own food and drinks, sunscreen, and insect repellent aboard, along with a bag for your catch, and away you go.

We would depart the marina and head to the deep chanels and jetties for big, hard fighting Bullreds and Shark. We would be using live bait, cut bait, or crabs on heavier tackle. These are some really hard fighting fish and lots of fun to catch! Make sure you're ready for the fight!

We will target speckled trout, redfish, sheepshead, drum and any species in season at the time of the trip.
Morning trips will depart around 5:30am depending on circumstances that day.

We will target snapper, cobia, shark, and other species in season at the time of the charter.

Snapper Trip

We would depart the marina at 6am and head to our speckled trout and redfish hot spots for some of the best Louisiana has to offer. After a couple of hours of trout & redfish fishing, we will head to the offshore oilfield rigs for snapper, cobia, shark and anything else that want to bite our baits! Afterwards, we will return to the marina where we can take pictures of your catch, then I will clean and bag your fillets for the ride home.
