Warrior Poet Sportfishing invites you to experience first-class fishing in San Francisco, California. The charter is based out of the historic Hyde Street Pier in San Francisco and offers half day trips in the morning and the afternoon, as well full day trips. Captain David King has been fishing the local waters for over 25 years and knows the best fishing spots.

Fishing in San Francisco is excellent for Rockfish, Sturgeon, Striped Bass, Salmon, Shark, Dungeness Crab, Lingcod, Halibut, Skate, Ray, and lots more species. Depending on the time of the year you go out, you will target seasonal fish using a variety of techniques such as light or heavy tackle, bottom fishing, jigging, trolling, or drift fishing.

Captain David operates a 34’ well-appointed Pelican Bay Boatworks commercial boat originally built in 1988. It is powered by new twin 225 HP Volvo D4 engines, with a maximum cruising speed of 20 knots. This boat is excellent for fishing trips inside and outside of the Golden Gate Bridge featuring a GPS and a fishfinder, an ice-box, a livewell, all the safety gear, and a toilet, which is a huge plus if you are taking the whole family out.

Warrior Poet Sportfishing provides full tackle with Avet reels and custom rods from Mac's Rods. They also include lures, live baits, snacks, and drinks on all trips. Once you return to the marina, you will have a complimentary fish cleaning and filleting, so bring a cooler in order to transport it home or to a nearby restaurant to be cooked for you.

You’ll need to purchase a fishing license before the day, and you can buy them on the official California Department of Fish and Wildlife website. Don’t forget the Sturgeon Report Card if you’d like to be able to retain White Sturgeon!

Depending on the season and the weather, you will be chasing fish inside or outside of the Golden Gate Bridge.  For food or fun it is always an adventure. Targeted species include Striped Bass, Salmon, Halibut, Skate, Ray, Rockfish, Crab, and more.

Full Day Trip

This year we are not sure of how many salmon trips we will get in but we will take every opportunity that we can get to from San Francisco.

Salmon Trip

On this trip, we will be putting down crab hoops on the way out. Then on to fish for rockfish. On the way back, we will pull the hoops. If everything goes well, everyone will be going home with limits of rockfish and 10 crab each.This trip takes us 40 miles off shore due to current regulations

Full Day – Crab & Rockfish Combo

This trip is for the person who wants the land to feel strange after they get off the boat because its not moving.  This is a long day trip trying to catch the most out of multiple tides.  It can also be for long runs to fishing grounds that are normally out of reach.  Not for the faint of heart.

Extended Full Day Trip

This is a three hour tour of the bay and golden gate channel.  We get to see the highlights of our area.  Under the Golden Gate Bridge, past a few islands and past 6 or so of our light houses.
