Warrior Poet Sportfishing invites you to experience first-class fishing in San Francisco, California. The charter is based out of the historic Hyde Street Pier in San Francisco and offers half day trips in the morning and the afternoon, as well full day trips. Captain David King has been fishing the local waters for over 25 years and knows the best fishing spots.

Fishing in San Francisco is excellent for Rockfish, Sturgeon, Striped Bass, Salmon, Shark, Dungeness Crab, Lingcod, Halibut, Skate, Ray, and lots more species. Depending on the time of the year you go out, you will target seasonal fish using a variety of techniques such as light or heavy tackle, bottom fishing, jigging, trolling, or drift fishing.

Captain David operates a 34’ well-appointed Pelican Bay Boatworks commercial boat originally built in 1988. It is powered by new twin 225 HP Volvo D4 engines, with a maximum cruising speed of 20 knots. This boat is excellent for fishing trips inside and outside of the Golden Gate Bridge featuring a GPS and a fishfinder, an ice-box, a livewell, all the safety gear, and a toilet, which is a huge plus if you are taking the whole family out.

Warrior Poet Sportfishing provides full tackle with Avet reels and custom rods from Mac’s Rods. They also include lures, live baits, snacks, and drinks on all trips. Once you return to the marina, you will have a complimentary fish cleaning and filleting, so bring a cooler in order to transport it home or to a nearby restaurant to be cooked for you.

You’ll need to purchase a fishing license before the day, and you can buy them on the official California Department of Fish and Wildlife website. Don’t forget the Sturgeon Report Card if you’d like to be able to retain White Sturgeon!

If you are looking for a fun day on the water fishing for delicious fish species and enjoying epic views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco, Warrior Poet is an excellent choice for you and your family!

Unforgettable Fishing Experience in San Francisco
Full Day Trip on September 27, 20252 adults
Our trip with Warrior Poet SF was truly outstanding! From start to finish, the crew made sure everything was well organized, safe, and fun. The captain was extremely knowledgeable about the area and took us right to the best spots, where we caught plenty of fish. The boat was clean, comfortable, and perfectly equipped for a great day on the water. What really stood out was the passion and friendliness of the team – they went above and beyond to make sure everyone had an amazing time, no matter their level of experience. I would highly recommend Warrior Poet SF to anyone looking for an unforgettable fishing adventure in San Francisco!

Epic Day on the Water with Captain Neil
Full Day Trip on September 17, 20252 adults
We had an absolutely incredible 10-hour fishing trip in San Francisco aboard the Warrior Poet with Captain Neil. My wife and I had a blast from start to finish. Neil knew exactly where to take us, and we fished both in the bay and out in the Pacific. Being that close to the Golden Gate Bridge while fishing was an unforgettable experience. The catch was amazing—about a dozen rockfish, a blue lingcod, striped bass, and two halibut. Honestly, we caught more in this one trip than on our last few trips combined! Once we had more than enough fish to bring home, we switched things up and fished for sharks and rays. My wife landed a leopard shark, and I reeled in a few rays. That part was all catch-and-release and so much fun. What really made the trip stand out was Captain Neil himself. He wasn’t just a guide—he taught us about the area, the different species, and even gave us tips to become better anglers. He’s knowledgeable, passionate, and just an all-around great guy. He even got my wife—who had never touched a live fish before—to hold up her catch for photos! She was nervous, but Neil captured some incredible shots we’ll treasure forever. All in all, it was a fantastic experience that exceeded every expectation. We can’t recommend Captain Neil and the Warrior Poet highly enough!

Awesome Fishing Trip
Half Day Trip (PM) on July 9, 20254 adults
Warrior Poet is pure fishing poetry! Captain Dave and Captain Neal made it effortless to catch fish. My boys and I had so much fun! Within a minute my son caught a striped bass, and it happened so fast I almost missed it. We caught sharks, striped bass, stingrays, and halibut. We had to throw some back, but the fight between man and fish was priceless. Captain Dave knew where to go and Captain Neal knew how to get us fishing fast. This trip was awesome. If you ever want to go out fishing or think about fishing then Warrior Poetry Sportfishing is the perfect way to make great memories!

Amazing half day!
Half Day Trip (PM) on August 10, 20253 adults1 child
My kids and I had such a fun afternoon with Capt Neil. Got to explore multiple parts of the bay, catch a giant ray, multiple sharks, and small halibut. While we didn’t catch any we could bring home to eat, it was so cool to get up close with some of the bay life. Holding a shark, petting a ray, and seeing a flat fish up close was really cool. I wasn’t sure if 5 hours would be too much for my 5yo son but he had a great time. Captain Neil was super patient and helped us be part of this special experience even though we know nothing about fishing

This was absolutely the best fishing trip we have done we are avid fishers from Alberta Canada and we didn’t know what to expect with fishing in San Francisco, Neil made the trip fun and memorable it was like going out with a friend. I don’t think the day could have gone any better. Not only did he take us fishing but he also made sure to give us information about san Francisco itself we learned so much about the city, the wildlife and the history. Thankyou so much to Neil for being the best guide for me and my husband!
