Warrior Poet Sportfishing invites you to experience first-class fishing in San Francisco, California. The charter is based out of the historic Hyde Street Pier in San Francisco and offers half day trips in the morning and the afternoon, as well full day trips. Captain David King has been fishing the local waters for over 25 years and knows the best fishing spots.

Fishing in San Francisco is excellent for Rockfish, Sturgeon, Striped Bass, Salmon, Shark, Dungeness Crab, Lingcod, Halibut, Skate, Ray, and lots more species. Depending on the time of the year you go out, you will target seasonal fish using a variety of techniques such as light or heavy tackle, bottom fishing, jigging, trolling, or drift fishing.

Captain David operates a 34' well-appointed Pelican Bay Boatworks commercial boat originally built in 1988. It is powered by new twin 225 HP Volvo D4 engines, with a maximum cruising speed of 20 knots. This boat is excellent for fishing trips inside and outside of the Golden Gate Bridge featuring a GPS and a fishfinder, an ice-box, a livewell, all the safety gear, and a toilet, which is a huge plus if you are taking the whole family out.

Warrior Poet Sportfishing provides full tackle with Avet reels and custom rods from Mac's Rods. They also include lures, live baits, snacks, and drinks on all trips. Once you return to the marina, you will have a complimentary fish cleaning and filleting, so bring a cooler in order to transport it home or to a nearby restaurant to be cooked for you.

You'll need to purchase a fishing license before the day, and you can buy them on the official California Department of Fish and Wildlife website. Don't forget the Sturgeon Report Card if you'd like to be able to retain White Sturgeon!

If you are looking for a fun day on the water fishing for delicious fish species and enjoying epic views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco, Warrior Poet is an excellent choice for you and your family!

Best birthday fishing trip ever!
Full Day Trip on July 18, 20264 adults

I booked this trip as a surprise for my husband, and we brought his sister and her boyfriend along. My husband has always wanted to try rockfishing, and this trip exceeded all of our expectations. Dave and Neil were fantastic, and made the whole experience so much fun and we couldn't believe how many fish we caught! We're looking forward to trying out lots of new recipes and enjoying plenty of fresh rockfish ceviche. We had an amazing day from start to finish and would absolutely recommend this crew to anyone looking for a great fishing experience. We'd love to book another trip with them in the future!

A Trip for the Books!
Half Day Trip on July 21, 20263 adults

Capt David & Neil put us on the fish. Entire crew including Mate Dave were very knowledgeable of the area and its fishing history. Boat was clean, organized and gave us all plenty of personal space to fish, along with a smooth ride. This was my first time fishing on west coast while visiting my daughter and will definitely book this charter for ALL my future fishing trips. Caught plenty of fish and had greats laughs and made fantastic memories. Thank you to you all.

Fantastic fishing
Full Day Trip (Private) on June 2, 20264 adults2 children

We had an absolutely fantastic fishing trip and couldn't have asked for a better experience! Captain Neil was incredibly knowledgeable and knew exactly where to take us. Thanks to his expertise, we caught an amazing variety of fish including halibut, striped bass, rockfish, leopard sharks, a seven-gill shark, and brown sharks! Bradley, the deckhand, was outstanding. He was friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a great time. He especially connected well with our teenager, which made the trip even more enjoyable. What really stood out was how wonderful both Neil and Bradley were with our two boys. They were patient, encouraging, and made the entire experience fun and memorable for our family. Their passion for fishing and dedication to their guests truly showed throughout the day. If you're looking for an unforgettable fishing adventure, we highly recommend this company. We will definitely be booking another trip in the future with Warrior Poet.

Best Trip EVER!!!!
Full Day Trip on May 9, 20262 adults

What an incredible day on the water with Warrior Poet Sportfishing Charter! We booked the full day trip and absolutely crushed it — limiting out on both striper and rockfish! Even caught a legal size rare cabezon The fishing was phenomenal, but what truly made the experience unforgettable was the crew. Captain David was top notch from start to finish — knowledgeable, hardworking, and clearly passionate about making sure everyone had an amazing time. Deckhand Neil was outstanding as well, always helping, keeping lines ready, and making the whole trip smooth and fun. And honorary deckhand Susan was absolutely awesome and brought such a great energy to the boat! The entire crew treated us like a couple of old friends out fishing together rather than just customers. The atmosphere was relaxed, welcoming, and an absolute blast all day long. You can tell they genuinely care about giving people a memorable experience. If you’re looking for an amazing fishing charter with an outstanding crew, Warrior Poet Sportfishing Charter is the one to book. We’ll definitely be back!!!

Amazing crew
Half Day Trip - 12:30 PM on February 7, 20266 adults

We had an amazing trip with the crew. Due to seasonal limitations we had to opt for bay rather than ocean fishing. My 11 years old boy received all support from the first mate and already wants to do it again. Captain kept us busy the whole trip with tons of stories about fishing and also his life journey. I enjoyed his life philosophy a lot. Very open and interesting person to talk to. In terms of fishing - we got a baby shark and a ray - both released. Not a lot. But we are eager to repeat during June-Oct, which is said to be the right time for newbies like us.

Angler's Choice

The Angler's Choice Award is given to listings that consistently deliver a high-quality service and earn great reviews from customers.

I was born with a view of the Hudson River and grew up within walking distance from the Atlantic Ocean. I moved to the Bay Area 25 years ago and I have fished every bit of water in-between.
