Hi, I’m Captain Harvey Wall, owner of Salty Dawg Fishing Charters. With 25 years of guiding experience in North Carolina—and as a proud U.S. Army veteran—my goal is simple: keep you safe, help you catch the fish you’re after, and make your day unforgettable.

I’m based in Ocean Isle Beach, with easy access to Sunset Beach, Holden Beach, Calabash, and Little River, SC. Whether it’s your first charter or your hundredth, I’ll tailor the trip to your pace and style so you have a blast.

Trips I Offer:

— Inshore Fishing Charters (4 hours; morning or midday)
Fish calm backwaters (ICW, rivers, creeks, marshes) for Redfish, Speckled Trout, and Flounder. Ideal for steady action and relaxed scenery.

— Kids Fishing Charters (2 hours; 3–5 PM)
For kids ages 12 and under. We fish calm, protected water for easy-to-catch species to keep your kids engaged and having fun. Everyone fishes!

— Nearshore Fishing Charters (4 hours; morning or midday)
Run 1–10 miles off the beach to troll or bottom-fish for King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Black Sea Bass, Cobia, and more.

— Shark Fishing Charters (4 hours; morning or midday)
Stay within 1–3 miles off the beach to target sharks like Hammerheads, Tiger Sharks, and Sharpnose Sharks (most 20–80+ lbs). Safe, thrilling fun for all ages.

What’s Included:
Quality rods/reels, tackle, bait (I primarily fish lures inshore and when trolling), and all required licenses—plus patient instruction.

Clear, Friendly Communication:
You’ll hear from me right after you book, and again a couple of days before your trip with meeting details and a quick plan based on current conditions. On the water, I’ll coach you step-by-step, point out local landmarks, share a few stories, and snap great photos of your day.

As a father of three and grandfather of two, Captain Harvey loves introducing kids to fishing! This 2-hour Kids Fishing Charter (3–5 PM daily) fishes safe, calm backwaters for easy-to-catch species to keep kids engaged. Requires at least one angler age 12 or under with a parent/guardian. Everyone fishes. All gear, bait, tackle & licenses included. Family-friendly—no experience needed.

KIDS FISHING - 2  Hours

Join Captain Harvey for a 4-hour nearshore Sea Bass trip. We’ll run 1–10 miles off Ocean Isle Beach to reefs and wrecks, targeting Black Sea Bass by bottom-fishing and jigging. If seas don’t cooperate, we’ll switch to calm inshore waters for Redfish and Speckled Trout. Family-friendly; no experience needed. All gear, tackle, bait, and licenses included.

This trip is priced to cover any fishery; if seas are up, we’ll pivot inshore at the same price. All-inclusive (quality rods/reels, tackle, bait, licenses). Up to 4 guests, kid-friendly (ages 5+). Great for beginners or seasoned anglers. Serving Ocean Isle Beach, Holden Beach, Sunset Beach, and Little River.

CAPTAIN'S CHOICE - 4 Hours (WINTER)

Join Captain Harvey for an action-packed 4-hour Nearshore Fishing Adventure where we'll fish from 1-10 miles out into the ocean around reefs and shipwrecks.

We'll target King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Cobia, Bonito, Trout, Sea Bass, Sharks, etc.  Trolling and/or bottom fishing.

If the sea conditions don't cooperate, no worries, we'll fish inshore in calmer waters for Redfish, Flounder, Trout. 

Family friendly. No experience necessary.

*** Meet in downtown Wilmington, NC (about 1 hour from OIB) *** for a 6-hour winter Striped Bass trip on the Cape Fear River. We’ll fish artificial lures only around bridges, docks, and river structure for hard-fighting stripers (typically 2–10 lbs). This is catch-and-release only. All gear, lures, and licenses included. Family-friendly—no experience needed.

If seas are up, we’ll switch to the inlets for a safer bite. All gear, bait, tackle, and licenses included. Family-friendly—no experience needed.

We’ll target trophy Bull Reds (40+ inches) along the beaches and inlet edges around Ocean Isle Beach and Little River. Expect powerful battles on medium-heavy gear with natural bait and circle hooks; trophy fish are catch-and-release for safe, quick photos and a healthy release.
