Hi, I’m Captain Harvey Wall, owner of Salty Dawg Fishing Charters. With 26 years of guiding experience in North Carolina—and as a proud U.S. Army veteran—my goal is simple: keep you safe, help you catch the fish you’re after, and make your day unforgettable.

I’m based in Ocean Isle Beach, with easy access to Sunset Beach, Holden Beach, Calabash, and Little River.

Whether it’s your first charter or your hundredth, I’ll tailor the trip to your pace and style so you have a blast.

5-Star Rated. Family-friendly. No experience necessary. Ages 4+.

Gear, tackle, bait & licenses included.

I’m fully insured, safety-first, and patient with beginners — especially kids.

All charters are private. You can bring up to 4 people.

Trips I Offer:

— Kids Fishing Charters (2 hours)
For kids ages 12 and under. We fish calm water for easy-to-catch species to keep your kids engaged and having fun. Everyone fishes!

— Inshore Fishing Charters (4 hours)
Fish calm backwaters for Redfish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Black Drum, and Sheepshead.

— Nearshore Fishing Charters (4 or 6 hours)
Fish 1–10+ miles offshore around reefs & wrecks for Mackerel, Cobia, Sea Bass, Snapper, Grouper, Triggerfish, and more. Trolling and/or bottom fishing.

— Shark Fishing Charters (4, 6, or 8 hours)
Fish 1–10+ miles off the beach to target sharks like Hammerheads, Tiger Sharks, and more (most 20–80+ lbs). Safe, fun for all ages.

— Captain's Choice Fishing Charters (4 hours)
Perfect if you're unsure of which trip to choose. On this trip I will pick everything for you based on conditions and where I think we will catch the most fish.

— Bull Redfish Fishing Charters (4 or 6 hours)
Seasonal trip for trophy redfish. This trip puts you on the hunt for a once in a lifetime redfish of 35 to 45 inches with an honest chance at a 50 incher!

KIDS FISHING - 2 Hours - P.M. on July 17, 2025 • 2 adults • 2 children

We had an absolutely fantastic time on this fishing charter with our 6 and 9-year-old kids! From the moment we got on board, the captain made the experience easy, fun, and stress-free—especially for us as parents bringing little ones. He was incredibly patient and hands-on with the kids, helping them bait the hooks, cast their lines, and release the fish. Our daughter was thrilled to catch a flounder, and there were plenty of fish biting for everyone. He took us to a great spot where the action was steady, which kept the kids engaged the whole time. We parents even got to fish and enjoy the trip ourselves, which isn’t always the case with young kids in tow! It was the perfect balance of learning, excitement, and fun for the whole family. Highly recommend this charter for anyone—especially families looking to create lasting memories on the water. We’ll definitely be booking again!

What a great day of fishing!

INSHORE - WINTER SPECIAL (4 Hours) on February 25, 2025 • 1 adult • 1 child

My son and I couldn't have asked for a better day of fishing! Captain Harvey was awesome! My son hasn't stopped talking about how many fish he caught! He also hasn't taken off the hat he got for catching the most fish of 2025. He tells everyone he sees how awesome his trip was and how many fish he caught! Captain Harvey knew exactly where to go, and the fish were biting! The gear was great, and the boat was awesome! I definitely look forward to booking with Captain Harvey again next February. Awesome adventure!

What a great trip with Cpt. Harvey! We caught tons of fish and saw so many beautiful birds in places most people never see. A trip with him is a fantastic experience with a Cpt who knows where to go and also celebrates the beauty around him. Great boat and equipment. We can’t wait to go again!

Fishing Fun

NEARSHORE - 4 HRS - 1-10 Miles Out on August 20, 2025 • 3 adults

My husband has wanted to take a beach fishing trip for the longest time, so this year I booked one for his birthday. My father and brother joined him and they had the best time, even if hurricane Erin changed the plans a little. They cannot wait to come back next year and do this again!

Great inshore fishing with the kids

We had an awesome time with Salty Dawg Fishing Charter. Captain Harvey was great with my two daughters (ages 6 and 4) — he probably answered a million of their questions and never missed a beat. Super patient and clearly loves having kids on board. We were getting bites the whole time and caught plenty of fish. It was the perfect intro to fishing for them. Highly recommend Captain Harvey if you’re looking for a fun and easygoing trip.
