Your Fishing Charter

As you draw away from the unspoiled Mauritius coastline aboard a great cabin cruiser, you’ll know that you’re in fishing paradise! Horizon Fishing is a family business, and with over 50 years of experience, they’re happy to help you have an amazing time on the water.

The 42’ D’unienville cruiser boat is fitted out for deep sea fishing, with two 220 HP Cummins marine engines, full navigational systems including an echo sounder with a color monitor, and a range of safety devices. There's a spacious deck for fantastic views of the ocean, a kitchenette with a microwave, an enclosed shower, toilet, and a spacious cabin.

You’ll use some of the best quality fishing equipment, including Fenwick rods with Penn International reels, and a Penn downrigger. There are three fighting chairs on board, so you can reel in those monster specimens. If you want to take your catch back home and prepare a delicious meal, the crew will be happy to clean and fillet the fish.

Fishing trips involve trolling with live and artificial bait for Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Shark, Tuna, Bonito, Wahoo, and Barracuda, depending on the season. The biggest fish tend to be around in the warmer season from November to April, making this a great place to get some winter sun and go fishing. 

The experienced team aboard Horizon never leaves the dock without a selection of good-quality lures and live bait to give them the best chance of attracting a bite. The crew considers every day to be a new opportunity to learn more, and they are enthusiastic about sharing this experience with you.

Once you pass the reef that circles the island, you'll immediately start looking for signs of fish. There are many fish living very close to the island due to the fact that there's deep water very close to shore. In season you can even find Black Marlin in this area. Travel up to 15-10 miles offshore, targeting game fish including Blue and Black Marlin, Mahi-mahi, Wahoo, Bonito and Tuna, depending on the season.
