- Background
- I’ve lived on Hartwell my whole life and been fishing it since I was a little kid. I’ve learned a lot about the fishery over the years and continuing to learn more everyday. There’s nothin I love more than taking people out and putting them on fish and having the best time while doing it!
- Techniques
- During the winter we usually will pull planner boards dragging blueback herring or gizzard shad, or trolling Alabama rigs, with the occasional down lines. During the spring we’ll start free linging baits as the fish are starting to group up good in the shallows, and pull up on the banks while casting out on the bottom letting line out so the bait can swim freely on the bottom. Summer is my favorite time of year when we start using Ben Parker flutter spoons, for the big fish. Dropping them all the way to the bottom and power reeling up and when one hits you better hang on tight! Fall, the fish start schooling on top of the water like crazy and it really doesn’t matter what style of fishing you do, they’ll biting anything. But artificial top water lures work really well in attracting big blow up bites.
