Hey Wes, I’m very sorry to hear that you and Aubra were so dissatisfied with your trip. I really work hard for every trip to be epic. I am personally disappointed when the fishing is as slow as it was during your trip with me, and I understand your disappointment with that. I know it was frustrating losing those fish, especially the one barracuda that cut the leader when you had it beside the boat, and the Goliath grouper that got off. I wish you would have said something to me about wanting to target different fish at the time because I was trying to put you on the ‘biggest and baddest’ fish, which is what you requested. This time of year, the biggest fish available are barracuda, Goliath grouper, and amberjack, which is what we were targeting. Unfortunately, the bite was extremely slow, and the amberjack weren’t at all interested, despite chumming and offering them live bait.

My techniques and gear are all carefully thought out and assembled for the fish we target. Although we do get more cutoffs using long shank hooks with 125-lb mono leader, we tend to get far more action than when we use steel leader for barracuda, because of their excellent eyesight.

I understand your complaint about my boat because it is not set up to be a pleasure boat. It is a no-nonsense fishing boat. However, we already had it scheduled to be reupholstered next month, during our off-season, which will make the seating more comfortable.
