Meet Master Captain Ed Batt, a multifaceted individual with a unique blend of skills and passions. Hailing from Hamburg, NY, he grew up as an avid freshwater fisherman, hockey player, and artist. After college, he joined Russell Athletic and relocated to Columbus, GA. In 1999, he relocated to Jacksonville, FL, and established eDesign Inc. an advertising company. Drawn to saltwater fishing, Ed immersed himself in the vibrant fishing community of St. Johns Landing. Learning from experienced fishermen, he developed a competitive edge that fueled his enthusiasm for tournament fishing. Notably, he achieved victory in the 2012 Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament and consistently placed highly in subsequent competitions. As the co-founder of the Jacksonville BlueWater Club alongside Captain Don Frattle, Ed actively nurtured the local fishing community. His dedication and expertise earned him an invitation to the 40th Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament of Champions in 2020, where he emerged as the 'Champion of Champions'. In 2021, Ed upgraded his fishing boat, a 31' TE Fountain, with cutting-edge technology, including the Mercury V8 300s. This commitment to staying at the forefront of his craft exemplifies his passion for fishing. Continuing to explore new avenues, Ed obtained his Master Captain's License in June 2021. Leveraging his expertise and love for being on the water, he established BattLine Charters, combining his retirement plans with his affinity for fishing. With a remarkable career as a Marketing and Creative Director and a proven track record in competitive fishing, Master Captain Ed Batt epitomizes the harmonious fusion of his professional and personal interests. Through his dedication, creativity, and unwavering competitive spirit, he leaves an indelible mark on both the business and fishing communities.

    5 Hour Trip – Jetty Fishing • 3 adults

    My wife and I had a great trip with Captain Batt. He put us right on the fish immediately. His equipment and boat are top notch. The boat was very comfortable and my wife definitely appreciated having a nice clean bathroom to use. I’ve done a lot of charters and our day with Captain Batt was right at the top of them. I strongly recommend this charter. It was worth every penny.

    Best charter!

    5 Hour Trip – Bottom Fish • 4 adults

    Best charter ive been on. We caught lots of red and vermillion snapper. He made it a very easy trip stuff for us and he was very knowledgeable. We were on a great spot. Will charter will him again next time!

    Great day on the water.

    5 Hour Trip – Jetty Fishing • 4 adults

    It was a perfect day from start to finish, Captain Ed got us loaded up and away from the launch quickly and in a few minutes we were on his spot and pulling in fish. We didn't get a lot of keepers but we had a lot of action and that's really all my wife and kids care about. Great time, we'll do it again before summers gone.

    Captain Ed Sets The Bar!

    8 Hour Trip – Bottom Fishing • 4 adults

    Choosing BattLine Charters for our offshore fishing trip was the best decision we could have made! We have taken many fishing charters both inshore and offshore and Captain Ed broke the ceiling and set the bar! To start the 32’ Fountain was a beaut! Comfortable with all the equipment needed for catching whatever species we wanted to target. The ride out to 130’ of water was short and dry, the seas were a little choppy but the boat sliced through with little effort. Captain Ed was very knowledgeable and knows the area well! We made a quick stop to load up the live well with grunts and minnows, then headed on out. Ed shared a wealth of knowledge about the area as well as how the electronics on the boat worked. We limited out on giant Bliners. We also caught Red Snapper, Amber Jacks, and few Sharks. Highly recommend booking with BATTLINE CHARTERS!!! You wont be disappointed!

    Amazing trip

    8 Hour Trip – Bottom Fishing • 2 adults

    I can’t say enough about how great of a trip we had. Everything from the communication pre-trip, conversations on the way to all the hot spots, of course the fishing and the help provided to keep us fishing non-stop, through the filleting of the fish, was absolutely top notch. The boat was a smooth ride and got us to the fishing spots quickly. I will be booking with them in the future for sure!

What's biting with BattLine Charters in Jacksonville

Fishing starts to diversify again in September. Look out for Tarpon in large numbers as they school from Fernadina to Matansaz Inlet. Offshore, Sailfish is biting 25 miles out.
