Excellent all round experience and skipper ‘Doc’ and deckhand George couldn’t have worked harder for us.

We caught well all afternoon with around 8 species including a superb giant trevally. Unfortunately the sharks took a heavy tax, taking many of the better fish we hooked, but that’s fishing for you!

My daughter and son are less experienced but were very well looked after and really enjoyed their day

We did the 2 hour fishing trip at 8am.  The seas were rough on the original date so we pushed a day. The trip was very fun!  George and Doc were very helpful and understanding of my lack of fishing know-how. They taught me a lot and were patient. We caught a lot more fish than I expected, though none to take home, which was fine. We also reeled in a nurse shark, both terrifying and amazing! We’ll definitely be reaching out to Doc and George for another trip

We booked a 1/2 day (4 hour) trip with Captain George and absolutely loved it and would highly recommend it to anyone. It was my 15 year old daughter and my 10 year old son along with me on the trip. Captain George and the first mate were so great with my kids. We are not the most experienced anglers, especially on the ocean, and they were very patient and helpful. They were not only helpful with the actual fishing but also answered all of my son’s many questions about fishing.
They got us on the fish quickly and my daughter was able to catch a 100 lb. nurse shark in the first half hour. We moved onto a couple different spots and caught some snappers and a nice kingfish. We ended with my son catching a blacktip shark that they found by sight fishing.
The boat was spacious and comfortable and we were very happy with everything. We will for sure book with Kekoa the next time we are in Islamorada.

We woke up to 4-9 foot seas and a chance of rain.  The Captain called me that morning and he assured me that his boat could handle the elements. (It really did remarkably well).  We decided to go out.  We were able to be out for 1/2 day.  The Captain and his first mate (his son) were incredibly nice.  Once we left the dock the game was on.  They were focused on putting us on fish.  The nice thing is the Gulf Stream is @11 miles out.  In spite of the wave we were out there pretty quickly and they looked for signs of fish.  It wasn’t 15 minutes and he had us in a school of Mahi and we had 3 in the boat.  We quickly moved to the next site and caught a couple of more.  In total we caught 11 really nice Mahi and one shark before the weather closed in on us.  I could hear on the radio other captains struggling to get one here and one there.  Captain Doc and is son where putting 2-3 in the boat at a time.  I would highly recommend them and I will use them again the next time we come down.

This was, by far one of the greatest fishing charters we’ve ever experienced. Not only was Captain George extremely personable but his knowledge and experience fishing these waters was immense. It was none stop action from the moment first line was dropped. Both he and his first mate Georgie made sure both my boys experienced the very best fishing in the waters of Islamorada. They were genuinely both very excited as my kids pulled up fish after fish, as well as equally disappointed when some of those same fish got gobbled up by sharks as they got closer to the surface….something we thought was amazing to see. Throughout the trip their passion for fishing, as well as teaching, and sharing their knowledge was on display. I will definitely, be returning to Islamorada, and will most definitely be making Kekoa charters a must do on our list and so should you!
