I had the pleasure of fishing the Mako Mania Tournament aboard the Finatic w/Capt. Mark Malamphy.  Day 1 we fished Washington Canyon & quickly became engaged in mako,hammerhead & dusky shark. In between shark sessions we enjoyed top water mahi on light tackle. What a blast! We ended the day with a large mako @ the boat that really got our blood pumping. Awesome day that was followed up on day 2 with a trip to the Fingers for some action with the tiger & thresher sharks! Overall it was a great 2 day trip w/plenty of action all day long. A big thank you to the Capt. & crew!!

Friendly captain and crew. We hooked 4 yellow fin tuna and landed 3.  We caught fish but paid for it by getting pretty banged up & sick.  The boat was too small to be fishing in 6’ to 8’ waves.  We all lost our breakfast (chum) inspite of taking Dramamine and wearing sea bands. We constantly had to hold on to something so we wouldn’t fall.  My dad banged his elbow so bad it swelled up like a golf ball. My sister-in-law fell in the cabin and hit her head pretty good.  When we hooked into the fish, we had to neal down on the deck so we wouldn’t fall down or overboard.  A chair would have been helpful to real in the fish.  There was so much yelling & craziness when we hooked into the fish and every one sliding around, it was chaos.  I have a video of some of the maddness, it actually made us all laugh later.  I think if the captain had a bigger boat and a more helpful 1st mate, it would make a world of difference.

This was an amazing trip.Cap’t Mark did his best to get us on the fish.We ended up with 2 nice Maui and lost a marlin,the tuna were just not hitting.We also saw sea turtles,stingrays,and pilot whales.Even the air force flew over with a couple of f-16"s.
