6 Hour Trip • 3 adultsWe had an amazing afternoon on the water with Captain John and First Mate Wyatt! We caught several red snapper along with a few other fish whose names I can’t remember. Captain John and Wyatt were incredibly accommodating, patient, and helpful, taking the time to guide us through the entire process. They worked hard to make sure we had plenty of action and a memorable experience. Their knowledge, professionalism, and friendly personalities made the trip even more enjoyable. We will definitely be booking another trip with them the next time we’re in Santa Rosa Beach. Highly recommend!

6 Hour Trip • 4 adultsWe scheduled last minute for a half day early morning family fishing trip. Capt John got us underway and discussed options. We decided to do a little trolling and caught some Mahi Mahi then moved on to do some bottom fishing. Once to Captain John’s location we caught Vermilion Snapper, a couple of Squirrel fish, and Trigger fish. One Trigger was very good size. We went back to trolling looking for something larger and lively. Wrapping up our adventure and heading in with a good number of keepers, Captain John saw some bait and activity. We trolled it a few passes but didn’t get the Wahoo we had hoped. Captain John took every opportunity to get us onto different and bigger fish. Heading back to dock we spotted dolphins. Being a family trip, Captain John afforded us a few minutes sightseeing to enjoy the dolphins. Back at the dock, Captain John and deckhand Wyatt cleaned our catch and even recommended a great restaurant, Jack-Acuda, to cook our fresh catch. It was phenomenal! Our one miss, or big regret, only booking a half day. Thanks to Captain John and Wyatt, we’ll see you again soon!

6 Hour Trip - 1:00 PM • 2 adultsWe went out around 30 miles and had an awesome afternoon experience! Several red snapper, trigger fish , grouper and several others. The captain and crew was very helpful and knowledgeable and this trip would be great for anyone wanting to go out for a great time on the water.  I will definitely be booking my next trip very soon.  even though we caught many fish and had  an exciting evening next time I will leave my bananas at home! Thanks, fellas I greatly appreciate it

6 Hour Trip • 6 adults • 3 childrenCaptain John did a wonderful job getting my son and husband out deep sea fishing in less than ideal conditions on our last day of vacation. While you can’t control the weather - the captain made safety a priority and still managed to put the guys on fish in very windy, chilly conditions. red grouper and red snapper were the catxhes of the day. My son learned a lot from Captain John and they had a wonderful experience.

Florida just announced a RECORD-BREAKING 140-DAY Gulf Red Snapper recreational season for 2026!
This is one of the longest Gulf red snapper seasons Florida has ever seen and incredible news for recreational anglers, families, and charter fishing along the Gulf Coast.

Spring Break Fishing Report – Santa Rosa

Spring break fishing along the Emerald Coast has been nothing short of outstanding, and our recent trips with Deep Charters out of Santa Rosa Beach and Destin, Florida have delivered consistent action for anglers of all experience levels.
The biggest headline has been the new Okaloosa nearshore FADs (Fish Aggregating Devices), which are already producing exceptional results. These shallow water fish attracting devices have been holding strong numbers of mahi mahi, giving us steady offshore-style action just a short run from the beach. Clients have been thrilled with the opportunity to target pelagic species without needing a full-day trip.
Closer to shore, the Spanish mackerel bite has been on fire inside Destin Harbor and along the Destin jetties. This has been a perfect option for families and spring breakers looking for fast-paced action, with multiple hook-ups and nonstop rod bending activity.
We’ve also been finding quality mahi mahi on weedlines within 5–8 miles of the beach, another great sign that our spring pelagic season is ramping up early this year. These fish have been eager to bite and providing excellent table fare for our crews.
For anglers booking our 6-hour trips, the bottom fishing has been just as consistent. We’ve been putting together solid catches of red grouper, giving clients a great mix of offshore action and dependable bottom fishing.
Looking Ahead: April Pelagic Season Heating Up
As we move deeper into April, everything is lining up for an incredible spring pelagic fishing season along the 30A and Destin coastline.
Historically, this is when the fishing really takes off—and we’re already seeing early signs of what’s to come. Over the past several seasons, Deep Charters has consistently produced tuna and marlin catches around the FADs throughout April and May, and we expect this year to be no different.

Our favorite time to target pelagic species and the month long Destin Fishing Rodeo. Destin Fishing Rodeo
One of the highlights of October in Destin is the renowned Destin Fishing Rodeo, held annually from October 1 through October 31. The Fall 2025 season has kicked off with an incredible sailfish bite with many of our fish being caught within a mile of shore. As if thats not good enough, October is also The Destin Fishing Rodeo. Deep Charters is registered as an official charter vessel for the entire month and any fish you catch will be eligible to weigh in on the docks at AJ's in Destin. There are daily, weekly, and overall prizes for multiple species. Hundreds of spectators crowd the docks daily to watch weigh-ins. There are over 30,000 anglers that compete each year in the Rodeo.
