In effort to try and understand this review let me provide a little context. Captain Henry, ran this charter and we are baffled.

The customer originally purchased a 6 hr inshore charter. I (Capt Taylor) contact all customers prior to the charter to understand the end goal / expectations for the day on behalf of Henry and I. After speaking with Chloe and her husband they did not want to target snook, red fish, trout, mangrove snapper, flounder as they said they do this back home… although this is the charter they booked.

I said no worries let me tell you about our other options. We spoke about reef fishing and said this would better fit their expectations of catching snapper, grouper, etc. The 6 hr price she explained was too expensive for her which is totally fine, so we downgraded it to a half day.

We started the charter promptly at 8:04, ready to go with a full livewell full of bait. As I tell all customers it takes roughly 20-35 minutes to get to the reef locations depending on seas / wind etc. We arrived per the GPS tracker 24 minutes after leaving the dock. We wanted to go to the furthest spot first due to spotty thunderstorms and not knowing how long it would hold off. We bounced around to 3-4 different reefs catching fish at all. Mangrove and Grey snapper, red grouper and more. The weather started to push in on Henry and the group and our number one priority for all charters is the customers safety paired with ours and the boats. We decided to push closer to shore to get away from lighting and be closer to the dock incase we needed to get quickly back. Henry took the group to a Emerson reef which is located in the tampa bay (old pilings and debris from the old skyway that collapsed) and proceeded to catch 15 more grey snapper. As I tell all groups, there are big, medium and small fish on all the trips.
At this point it was just after 12pm and with 25 fish to fillet we headed back to the dock. Filleted their fish shook hands and left.

After speaking with the customer, they thought they were going to catch a barracuda, and were bummed with the snapper they were taking home. Don’t know why because they make the best fish tacos ever! (Ask about the recipe and I’ll send it to you!)
If a customer wants something specific please know we are not mind readers and logically won’t know unless you bring this forward. Barracuda are one of the easiest fish in the sea to catch and could have totally hooked 10-20 in a day. Please don’t rely on fishing booker to suggest what fish you may catch as it changes throughout the year. Ask us, let’s come up with a game plan and have fun! Thanks again! Ps, the boat rating hurts my heart after speaking with the husband he thought the boat was awesome, the Simrad, motor machines were killer etc! We run a $100,000 boat that is cleaned to perfection after every trip! :)

Hi, I will keep this short and sweet and directed to others looking for a fishing charter and of course doing their research before booking. The charter was pushed back to our second slot due to us popping a tire the morning up driving to the boat ramp on the trailer. I quickly contacted dean, apologized and explained the situation. The two options were a refund which I feel like we both didn’t want, or push the time back later in the day. He agreed to the second a lot. Fast forward to I’m not really sure about the “trolling motor” comment so I can’t comment on that but we have our trolling motors (minn Kota Terrovas 36vlt) service one a month we have two as a back up but that was and is working. Lastly, we do our regular maintenance although a seal failed on the head gasket and was leaking oil. We fished 25 minutes past your allotted time and it took a extra 24 min to get back to the dock due to we were being cautious and going a little slow. Dean expected a full refund at the end of the trip which would make no sense. Things happen and break as we all know with the saltwater. The cherry on top, I got married Friday and Dean called me and told me he hoped I had a horrible day and that the wedding would suck. His words exactly. (Which it did not!) Henry and I give 100% effort each and every charter. There are not two other captains that will work harder for you to have a great day on the water!
